The imbecile in the WH continues to run our country into the ground and act like a petulant two year old. It takes a special kind if morom to continuevto support him.

17 ( +24 / -7 )

"And that's why we couldn't continue in the meeting because he was just not relating to the reality of it."

Trump and Reality have not been on speaking terms for some time now.

"What we witnessed on the part of the president was a meltdown. Sad to say," Pelosi told reporters as she and the other Democrats emerged from the White House.

No doubt like the one he had at the end of last year when he shut the government down because he couldn't get his wall (what happened with that wall anyway?)

"I asked the president what his plan was to contain ISIS. He didn't really have one,"

Give him a chance.  You probably asked him before Fox & Friends aired.

Winners in all this:

Assad- instantly retakes 1/3 of his country back and gets the Kurds to align with him. (Thanks Obama for arming them and for paying for their training). The Kurds will be useful alongside the Syrian Army in crushing the smoldering remains of the rebels.

The Syrian people- peace and normalcy will finally return to their country.

Trump- Keeps his election promise to bring the troops home.

American people- Troops come home and money that was being wasted on the Kurds can now go to schools and hospitals in America.

Russia- Putin just wanted peace for the Syrian people and now his goal will be achieved. This guy deserves the Nobel Peace Prize next year.

Turkey- By bowing to Putin's wishes, Turkey gets to buy the best air defence system in the world, the S400.

Kurds- They can rejoin their Syrian brethren in rebuilding their country and they get Russian protection.

Losers:

Hillary Clinton.

The loser in all of this: The credibility of the US.

16 ( +20 / -4 )

Political theater. Dems “stormed out” and ran right into the waiting arms of the media.

if Pelosi and schumer think their opinion is equal to the president they should run for election for it. Otherwise their role is to stay there until a deal is done and a policy completed. What does storming out do except more politics as usual?

Warren wants the US out of the Middle East too. Are they praying for her as well?

-21 ( +5 / -26 )

Putin has got Trump's balls locked in a vice. Don't be surprised when Cuba hosts Russian missiles at the invite of Trump.

11 ( +17 / -6 )

U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he had no problem if Russia helped Syria

while winking and saying 'Russia if you're listening...' in his latest appeal to the Kremlin for continued help for his re-election and those of Moscow Mitch, Leningrad Lindsey and the slew of other Trump backers selling out the country to the highest bidders.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

Of course the Kurds are "no angels" - think of the environment in which they live. But one of my favorite lines from 千と千尋の神隠し was 手を出せば最後までやれ - kinda the Japanese version of "You broke it, you bought it," but with a very different nuance. America didn't break Syria, but we did make promises to certain groups, particularly to the Kurds. Abandoning them is unconscionable.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

my oh my these little countries feel so bold when the US is not around. Since when is Syria and turkey the US's responsibility? We have no duty to do anything for them. They do not pay our taxes they can not tell us how to use our military.

The imbecile in the WH continues to run our country into the ground

I agree he is not the brightest guy, but America is by no means run into the ground. The economy is the best it has been since Reagan was President.

I agree he is not the brightest guy, but America is by no means run into the ground. The economy is the best it has been since Reagan was President.

The economy is not the only measure of a country's health.

Never forget:

This is the same party -- the same people -- that brought us the Iraq war.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

It's a lot of sand," he later said.

Trump has no properties in Syria.

Trump does have properties in Turkey.

two countries fight over land that has nothing to do with us.”

Does this principle also apply to Trump's policies toward Israel? Iran? Saudi Arabia?

18 ( +18 / -0 )

"I viewed the situation on the Turkish border with Syria to be for the United States strategically brilliant," Trump said.

More delusion of grandeur...

Just calling something "brilliant" doesn't make it so. Just like putting deodorant on dog poop doesn't make it a cake.

"Syria may have some help with Russia, and that's fine. It's a lot of sand,"

Ok, granpa is off his meds again.

15 ( +16 / -1 )

Ah, so the new narrative is that the Kurds are terrorists. That's what happens when you fight for your freedoms. Did the US ever fight for freedom or independence?

The Russians rush in where Trump (no angel he) fears to tread. Spasibo! The moronic meshuga might yet get his towers in Moscow, but more likely his own room in the Pen.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Ummm because it’s the job they were elected to do and the role they play in government as the minority party. Respect for the office of President, respect for the people who elected him and them.

yes quite childish to stomp out of the room and starting crying to the media.

eah! Why didn't they just sit there and listen to a raving moron?! So childish of them.

Very strong if not the strongest indicator for re-election though.

The economy is not the only measure of a country's health

-17 ( +1 / -18 )

@Chip Star The economy is not the only measure of a country's health.

Especially when you factor in the Trump economy's negative externalities, e.g. gutting environmental protections,

selling off public lands and allowing Trump's favored resource extractors to decimate them,

gutting worker and consumer protections,

cutting taxes for the richest and making future generations of working and middle class taxpayers pay more,

increasing subsidies to big energy, big defense, big farm and ranch, etc. (aka socialism for the rich paid for by the working and middle classes),

watching the cost of living increase for the working and middle classes while their buying power decreases.

Among others

yes quite childish to stomp out of the room and starting crying to the media.

Clearly you've just completely swallowed the Republicans' narrative. I personally took Nancy Pelosi's allegation of a "meltdown" with a pinch of salt because she would say that, but you obviously don't hold politicians to such a high standard when they say what you would prefer to believe.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

Of course he had a meltdown, he's a giant baby. He trades in personal invective because he has no understanding of policy. Just yesterday he was berating the French for their unfair trade practices in selling Renault cars in the US - Renault hasn't been sold in the US since 1989.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

The US abandons those who fight alongside it.

This will not be forgotten.

Russian troops have taken over and moved into abandoned U.S. military bases. Great PR for Putin.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

Of course he had a meltdown, he's a giant baby.

Admittedly I did find what Pelosi said pretty plausible, especially given that Republicans joined Democrats to pass the House resolution condemning the Syrian fiasco.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Mr President, what is your plan to assist the Kurds? Nancy is a witch and a third-rate politician!

Mr President, Russia is quickly filling the vacuum after the US withdrawal, what do you plan to do? Chucky is stupid and has bad hair!

Mr President, ISIS fighters are being released and again pose a threat, what will you do? Shifty Schiff is a loser!

Mr President, you have confessed to abuse of authority in writing, your personal attorney was colluding with pro-Russian Ukrainians and is under federal investigation for illegal lobbying, and one official after another are testifying that you engaged in a quid-pro-quo shakedown of the Ukraine President - what do you have to say...

I want my Mommy! WHAAAA!!!!!

11 ( +13 / -2 )

Russian troops have taken over and moved into abandoned U.S. military bases. Great PR for Putin.

All roads lead to Putin.

8 days since the US was an ally of the Kurds but now the critical partners in fighting ISIS are likened to terrorists.

I feel like I'm reading 1984 again.

Bipartisan pushback from Congress, even the evangelicals, is building. We say it often, but is this the final straw?

I'm guessing you don't have any family members who were serving in the military in Syria.

If you're so concerned about the Kurds, go over there as a mercenary.

I'm guessing you don't have any family members who were serving in the military in Syria.

I'm not foolish enough to divulge personal details, esp those that could affect family.

If you're so concerned about the Kurds, go over there as a mercenary.

One can have affinity with and concern for any group in the world without having to be there. If Trumpists have so much concern over Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and other places like the US border or Venezuela, or Brexit Britain - one could ask why don't they go there?

Let Putin have the "great PR." And let the Russian troops put themselves in harm;s way. We're done there.

You're done here, too. Can your troops please leave, thanks.

This is the same party -- the same people -- that brought us the Iraq war.

Not quite; that was the neocon wing of the Republican party. There are neocons in the Democratic party as well, such as Hillary Clinton.

The neoconservative movement was started by Irving Kristol (father of Bill Kristol). Irving was a Trotskyite in his youth and later became a "conservative", as the movement is closer to what we see in the Likudnik party of Netanyahu today, i.e. Zionist. Essentially they use the American military to fight proxy wars in the Middle East for Israel.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

The one thing all this definitely tells me is

DON'T trust Trump!

Once the Kurds (YPK) were the greatest allies fighting IS.

Now they are worse than those ISIS folks. (according to Trump).

7 ( +8 / -1 )

"I think that vote - the size of the vote, more than 2-1 of the Republicans voted to oppose what the president did - probably got to the president. Because he was shaken up by it," Pelosi said after emerging from the White House.

A majority of Republicans in the House vote against Trump - and Trumpers black and white tribal world where each side votes in lock-step comes crashing down...just like Kavanaugh never voting with the Liberals...

Expect much cognitive dissonance...i.e., meltdown....

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Trump can add "resurrecting ISIS" to his astonishing list of 4 accomplishments.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Washington's hasty exit has created a land rush between Turkey and Russia - now the undisputed foreign powers in the area - to partition the formerly U.S.-protected Kurdish area.

Surely not Russia but Syria?  Why does Russia want to own a destroyed bit of desolate land between Syria and Turkey?

As for the whole noise about "trust", like any of the participants in the unholy mess of the Middle East are themselves "trustworthy"......

Believed Robert Mueller was Superman

Believed Micheal Cohen's testimony would sink Trump

Believed Paul Manafort would deliver the goods on Trump

Believed Michael Avenatti was Trump's greatest fear

Believed Stormy Daniels would take down Trump

Don't be too sure, as at least 50 B-61 nukes that the Air Force is scrambling to figure out how to quietly retrieve from Incirlik Air Base in Turkey, no thanks to Loose-Lips Trump who can't even keep a Secrete Santa gift under wraps (https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/16/politics/trump-us-nuclear-weapons-turkey/index.html).

She doesn't have to because she is the speaker, which means the leader of the majority, which means the House. The House has "sole power of impeachment," so it sets the rules. This won't change no matter how much Trumpophiles screech about it.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

Not much to add to the volumes expressed.

But the significant point in all of this is Trump lost out on the vote.

His Repub buddies deserted him in droves to realize a 354 to 60 house vote. I never expected that.

This must have been crippling to Trump-who-is-always-right, who essentially just reverted to his "put down" mannerisms to explain away the opposition - on both sides!

Just love it. Cannibalism at it's finest.

Serrano, you're spot on "........all you ever see is Orange Man bad...."

He also defended his move to get U.S. troops out as part of his wider effort to bring Americans home from "endless wars," despite being excoriated by members of his own Republican Party. U.S officials say, however, that those troops were expected to be repositioned in the region. Some of them could go to Iraq.

He ain't going to let them come home. Trump keeps sending more US troops to Saudi Arabia to defend that dirty rat king and line his pockets and be a good boy. And ISIL will reemerge from Syria. This is nothing but a disaster led by a sorry excuse of a Commander-in-Chief with an ego bigger than the planet Jupiter (1500X Earth).

If I were being accused of false allegations and were not allowed to see the evidence, being witnesses or allowed due process, I would tell the Dems to stick it as well. Neither did Obama and he did the same thing. Presidents don’t need to have military experience, if the people are not happy, then the President must pay attention to that even if it rubs the military the wrong way.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

During the trial in the Senate they are. ROFL!

Like I said, the Dems don’t want to be transparent, Trump and the the GOP would be fools to play their childish games....again...

Innacurate and completely irrelevant to senate republicans already demonstrating their bias by declaring they won't remove Donny BEFORE they hear any evidence.

Just like the bias of the Dems unwilling to remove Clinton back in 1998

It demonstrates that Dems are getting o Donny.

Apparently, he got to Pelosi and Schumer. Lol

Reid is completely irrelevant to Moscow Mitch refusing to bring legislation to a vote. You claimed the Dems weren't doing anything and then pivoted to Reid after I demonstrated you were utterly incorrect. Smooth critical discourse skills.

No, it’s relevant, when the Dems controlled the Senate they were fine, just fine with upholding any Republican legislation and when the GOP complained, they were called babies and making a fuss about nothing and their agenda wasn’t of any significance and now the tables are turned and the Dems are crying foul and saying this is unfair? ROFL!

Give me a break!
