When thing are uncertain, people stop spending money.

They should at least be phased in to give everyone a chance to make adjustments. I live in a district where nearly 25% of all jobs are manufacturing jobs and that is the second highest rate in the nation. We are also one of the top exporters by percentage of GNP. So yes I am extremely worried. This is about real money for us. Business is booming right now. The unemployment rate is 2.1 percent. Which means manufacturers have already had to absorb rising labor costs due to the tight job market, and they worry that higher steel and aluminum costs could price many of their potential customers out of the market. One potential investor has already canceled a new plant. The owner said he ‘was expecting the savings on taxes to fund the expansion’ but after the announcement, ‘the risk is too high with the tariffs.’”

Chaos and mayhem escalate in this failed administration.

How so? Please elaborate.
Ahhh, so for example?
Ok, so basically, because YOU personally don’t like or approve of it, you personally think it’s wrong. There’s nothing in the Constitution that says nepotism is a crime, worked out well for many other politicians in the past, the Kennedy’s, Gore’s, Bush’s so I don’t see a problem here either.
Midnight Sun Tribe
"I doubt it and what’s wrong with nepotism?" - Quoth a moron. Award winner of most anti-American statement of the year... Thus far.
In response to said idiot query...,
Everything.
Oh, unless you are one of those rich kids who despise the concept of a meritocracy. Or a CCP princeling who feels ever-so entitled to a dictatorship.

Levies which are exported around the world are not made in the USA are made in Asia. The profit go straight into some mega billionaire Panama account and stay there. The profit are not invested in USA jobs. Any investment back in the companies are invest in overseas labour. Scottish and Irish Whisky is better drop and will take up the bourbon sale loss due to tariff. Cars transport is going change drastically over the next decade. No USA basic wage earner can't afford to run a made in the USA car so they drive Japanese that run on a oily rag with a 5 year warranty . In 10 or 20 years time the car as we know it will not exist. Ask google about their grand plan to take over personal transport. Their not looking at steel pods, only plastic will do because there be no smashes.
Trump is " Its all About Me" and will never have any foresight.
The average USA younger citizen is not going to be a basic wage earner. Only countries with low education will be doing the basic labour work for these multinationals in 10 to 20 years times.
The over educated countries know this and promoting robotics.
USA has been leaking for years know with the plug going to be pull. There 18 Trillion yearly international trade will be lash by more then 50 %
Just look at what you have purchase over the last 10 years. I have not purchase any USA company product item which have been made the USA. I have Apple, wear levis but there not made in the USA.
USA Time at the top was fading away before Trump.
Now it will execrate to bottom with good old Trump.
The only winner will be anyone who live outside the USA, because in a few years time with this trade war. Only rich wealthy people will be able to live in the USA. Just have a look at your own situation. Are you able to move back to the USA to better paying more successful Job ?
No way Trumpets !!! you are all stuck here, never to return to a better position. If you do move back it will be for the poorer.
No, logic tell me that Asia is the happening place to be in the next 50 years not the USA.

We are the biggest commodity consumer in the world. Nice move by President Trump. Another promise kept to his voters. Screw the globalist swamp. We've been getting killed in these trade deals.
Ray Payne
Go for it Donald! Fight fire with fire. Demand a fair playing field to offset those those hugh trade surpluses created by those countries with their cunning trade practices, that is not trul;y free trade.
Lizz
And we can do much better after re-negotiating trade deals.
This is going to end like the steel embargo under Bush. Trump will be able to say he gave the industries time to reorganize and regrow while a new and improved NAFTA was being negotiated. Hopefully the economy is strong enough to absorb job losses in the meantime.
CrazyJoe
How many times has Ryan "broken with Trump" only come back crawling, begging forgiveness, and kissing his ring?
This could be just another "pretend fight" to distract attention from the Mueller investigation.

bass4funk: "I doubt it and what’s wrong with nepotism?"
So, you're a fan of the NK government. Good to know, because Trump also envies China's unlimited term for leadership. You're basically supporting a dictator already.
Civitas Sine Suffragio
If we get away with a Trump presidency only causing a trade war and not a thermonuclear one, then we will have gotten away lightly...
commanteer
I agree. Unfortunately there have been no viable candidates recently who do anything but give false hope.
commanteer
Where have I heard that before? Oh yes, robber baron industrialists and royalty talking about the working class masses who are "unable to control their primal urges." I think that response has a long history of being used to justify racial discrimination as well. Opinions are not truth, sorry.
Your second sentence was a bit convoluted. I gather you are trying to say that you are working for the future, while those you despise are longing for the past. Without knowing specifically what your image of a desirable future is, I can't really respond to that. But I have met a lot of the people you despise in "Flyoverland," and they are no more or less informed than people I meet in the cities.

Another unfortunate result of the Trump/Clinton election has been a furthering of class divides. Clinton made arguably the biggest mistake of any modern candidate using the term ‘deplorables’. The Trump camp quickly countered using ‘elites’ even more frequently to drive the wedge deeper. And Trump supporters continue to use that term for the same purpose.
It’s shameful that Trump is giving false hope to many in the rust belt and other depressed areas, claiming he’s trying to bring back 1950’s era jobs in industries like steel and coal. If those industries return, there won’t be many ‘new’ jobs for American workers; automation will be used instead.
Trump knows he can keep stringing his base along while he’s in office. He’ll make them think their jobs will return, though he and his fellow .01%-ers know it’s next to impossible. Their actions will alienate that segment of American workers even more.
Cynical and sick.
bass4funk
I doubt it and what’s wrong with nepotism?
Well, I don’t like trade wars for a lot of reasons, but Trump is tired of seeing the American worker getting screwed over and over again and on that he’s absolutely right as well as making good on his campaign promise, like him or not, he’s been doing pretty good at trying to keep those promises.
Jimizo
A very good point. I thought those left behind by a changing economy only had themselves to blame according to the ideas of the right. These people clearly haven’t made the most of their human capital and will suffer accordingly. I don’t accept it fully but I’ve heard it rolled out for years from the right.
Apparently this principle only applies in certain cases. When these people vote for you, it goes out of the window.
Laguna
It's not bigotry; it' simply truth. There's no more reason for those who survive working for what economics represent the future of the US to compromise with those who work for the past aside from compassion.
smithinjapan
All this because a senile old man got angry because his nepotism experienced a set back, so he lashed out. Even the Trumpers are having trouble explaining this one away.
commanteer
You might try taking the time to get to know people in the US outside the 2 coasts. The unveiled bigotry of calling the bulk of the country Flyoverland is the kind of elitist contempt toward the working class that causes people to vote for candidates like Trump. Why is Trump in office? Because of people like you.
Cricky
Lead the way Donald, add Tariffs so will everyone else, forget free trade, let's build walls....where/ how is that wall going down south?
domtoidi
Free ride? What free ride is that, yakyak?
The US has some of the most onerous tariffs already. The US is far, far from being a free trading country.
Strangerland
The US has the strongest economy in the world.
Reality doesn't match with your comment.
yakyak
?????
yakyak
And we can do much better after re-negotiating trade deals.
SimondB
How does the price of steel and/or aluminum equate to a threat to national security?
yakyak
And he shouldn't, The U.S.A. has been on the "unfair side" of world trade for about 71 years. The free ride is over regarding trade deals with other countries.
Yubaru
And it just goes to show that the two largest economies in the world are headed by people who like to bully the rest of the planet.
Tommy Jones
*The economy of the United States is the largest in the world. At $18 trillion, it represents a quarter share of the global economy (24.3%), according to the latest World Bank figures.*
China follows, with $11 trillion, or 14.8% of the world economy

The US is doing just fine.

I do declare A. Like I said, B was the plan all along. Very amazing plan. I know.

Did not know illegal drugs were part of the Nafta agreement.
Yubaru
This is asinine. If there were no market, there would be no drugs. You want to stop drugs from flowing into the country, treat the users as being addicts and not criminals!
CrazyJoe
How sad. Money moves them. The lives of children shattered by gun violence does not.
If Trump presses the Germans too much with his trade threats they might just shut down their factories mainly in Red states and take those jobs back to the Vaterland!
German companies such as Adidas, BASF, Bayer, Bosch, Lufthansa, SAP, Siemens, T-Mobile and Volkswagen, employ over 620,000 workers in the US. There's also Mercedes, BMW, and Airbus.
I believe that's a few more jobs than clean coal provides?
nostromo
So much for the "no exceptions" rule to the tariff policy... that thought bubble lasted barely 2 days....
Yubaru
Working people around the world will suffer if Trump's delusions come to reality.
Laguna
Ha ha. Yes we are. Trump must learn that his power derives as much from his title as from his support from his fellow GOP Washington delegation. The number of rubes he can beckon to some rally in Flyoverland means naught if congress turns on him. And on this issue, they will.
Best is to tell him he won, give him great praise for being such a master negotiator, and continue on.
