Chicago officials released graphic video showing an officer fatally shooting 13-year-old Adam Toledo

This one is just horrible to me. A 13 year old kid with his hands up get shot in the chest by police officers.

As bad as it was, the bigger question is, what reason and why was a 13 year old out that late to begin with?

lol no, its really not. Even if he should have been at home, the cop shouldn't have shot him.

There is absolutely no way as a parent I would allow my kids to even be up that late let alone be on the streets with a firearm. Where were his parents?

Who knows? Maybe they were working multiple jobs to try and make ends eat, because minimum wage hasn't kept up with inflation.

Here's a picture of Toledo when the officer pulled the trigger, right after telling the kid to show him his hands:

I guess complying with police orders is justification for the police shooting you anyway.

Who 0.8 seconds prior this this had a gun in his hand. A gun that was recovered next to him and gunshot residue found on his hand.

He had a gun in his hands in America? Well that solves the case, he deserved to get shot! Everyone knows guns are illegal in America, and if the police see you with a gun in your hand they have every right to shoot and kill you. :D

Yes, but when they’re defunded they can’t and that’s happening more and more and the crime rate continues to rise

Don't defund the police or they'll shoot people just like they already are? That's compelling argument, Bass. Lolololol

1 ( +1 / -0 )

lol no, its really not.

Excuse.

Even if he should have been at home, the cop shouldn't have shot him.

We already covered that. Again, and in spite of all this, No child should be out after 2pm there’s absolutely zero excuse for that and if you can’t keep watch of your child that reflects poorly on you as a parent.

Second, when you’re running after a suspect, in a dark ally, your heart rate up, your adrenaline high, the first and only thing you do is keep your eyes constantly focused on the assailants hands, you’re not focusing on anything else, it’s a typical survival flight and fight scenario. I’m not going to entirely blame the officers actions because of the seriousness of the situation. I might have done the same thing if I were a cop and saw the person going in their pockets turning and moving their hands.

Who knows? Maybe they were working multiple jobs to try and make ends eat, because minimum wage hasn't kept up with inflation.

I have a 14 year old and her mom and I both work, she’s smart enough to know never to go out and hang on the streets at night, but I raised her to always let us know where she’s at. So that’s an excuse. I come from a very large family and our parents always knew where we were and this was way before the invention of the smartphone.

bass: We already covered that. Again, and in spite of all this, No child should be out after 2pm

All of these things could have been debated with the child alive, in handcuffs, in the back of a police car. The difference here is that a cop murdered him. There's no, "yeah, but..." involved with that part.

the first and only thing you do is keep your eyes constantly focused on the assailants hands, you’re not focusing on anything else

Once again, the picture of the kid right before the officer killed him: https://am24.mediaite.com/lc/cnt/uploads/2021/04/Adam-Toledo-1.jpg.

In your opinion, was the police officer focusing on his hands when he pulled the trigger?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

nah, bad parenting didn't aim a loaded gun and the kid and shoot him. The parents aren't on trial here.

But it slowed a minor to go out. So if he smokes you want to blame The liquor store for selling him cigarettes?

Lol Nah, he had his hands up. He didn't have a gun.

They found a gun, so someone just left it there

And again, having a gun isn't a crime.

as minor it is especially running from a cop, why run?

lol and you do? You don't have to be an expert

And yet the people that aren’t experts want to tell the experts how they should conduct their jobs? Rich...

Again, he didn't have his hand in his pocket.

He did, watch the video

And that is why you should never be a cop.

I could care less, when I’m in the states I don’t live in a neighborhood that is Placher’s crime, if people want to defund the police and if people don’t want policing, that’s your choice, but crime is not going to go down, because people are emotional I think police shouldn’t use a fire arm especially in the most dangerous situations, that’s crazy and this is a reason why cities like Portland a falling apart.

Basic instinct as a person that trains and uses guns all the time I would say yes, however, I don’t know what was in the officers head at the time and moment, so I’m not going to interject anything I’ll wait for the facts to come out first

Yes Bass, I'd blame the liquor store that is required by law to check his ID for failing to check his ID.

He did, watch the video

I watched the video. He had his hands up when he turned around. They shot him after he had his hands up and turned around, exactly like the police told him to do.

And yet the people that aren’t experts want to tell the experts how they should conduct their jobs? Rich...

Yeah, Bass because I think 200americans shot dead by the police is too much. You don't?

Ok, once again, excuse bad parenting.

I watched the video. He had his hands up when he turned around.

Not while he was running

They shot him after he had his hands up and turned around, exactly like the police told him to do.

Again, a child shouldn’t be out a 2am...

Given the crime rate, maybe the criminals should think twice about breaking the law in these cities.

And there are kids with guns with gun residue on their hands running from police with their 21 year old friend after reports of gunfire.

quite a false equivalence.

There are homeless kids and others who have run away from abusive homes.

2pm? Gonna make it kind of hard to ho home from school. Who cares what the excuse was? The dumb cop shouldn't have shot a kid with his hands up. Stop blaming the kid and start blaming the cowardly, poorly trained, out-of-shape cop who shot a kid who had his hands up, exactly like he was told to.

Liberals wanting to give bad parents and parenting skills an excuse

The dumb cop shouldn't have shot a kid with his hands up.

The parents shouldn’t have allowed their child to be out. No excuse, now sadly, they have to live with the devastating consequences.

Stop blaming the kid

I’m blaming the parents, but I do blame the kid for having on him a firearm. I have a collection of guns, my kids wouldn’t even think about going near them without my permission.

and start blaming the cowardly, poorly trained, out-of-shape cop who shot a kid who had his hands up, exactly like he was told to.

Not really, people that don’t know anything about firearms or policing want to blame the police but never been out on the beat, let alone shoot a gun or dealt with gangs or drug dealers. I will go to say there is always room for improvement, but overall, if I’m a cop chasing after someone late at night running in a dark ally with their hands in their pocket, you will not get a drop on me. My life matters to me because it’s my life and I don’t have time to qualify what your problem is. I’m a cop, I give commands that need to be followed and if you don’t follow them and run in those circumstances, things like this will happen.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Being at home might not make you safe.

No, especially if you live in a high crime area, that is true, but at the same time you have no business being outside at 2am if you’re a minor-period unless you are accompanied by your parents or other family members.

You previuosly stated you had two daughters?

And?

You also claim to be well of, another word for rich, so why does your wife need to work?

She wants to, her choice, so back on topic.

But you can't compare Japan and America when it comes to these killings.

I wasn’t, why are you bringing Japan into the conversation???

Japanese police officers shooting someone dead is a very rare event. At night here, means after dark, which is usually 6-7pm so still very early.

Ok, Japan doesn’t have a gang problem either, Japan doesn’t have a large mixed minority community with a lot of social and economic problems that were created by the very politicians they voted for and did nothing to better their lives or communities.

lol and you do? You don't have to be an expert to know that 160 people being shot and killed is too much.

Don’t have a gun in your hand 0.8 seconds before a cop has to decide if you still have it or just now dropped it.

a gun that had been fired already that morning by the same person.
