Quashed implies suppressed, and due to the monstrous error here suppression is not what needs to be done!

Erasing their prosecutions from existence is the only course of action! These people did nothing wrong and the government owes them along with Fujitsu as well!

also issued a groveling apology for his firm's role in the scandal.

I highly doubt that anyone from Fujitsu was "groveling" , and writing it this way is trying exaggerate and sugar coat the enormity of the wrongs done to these people!

Let's see what compensation is offered to them, the original offer was a pittance, and I doubt any of the PO staff and Fujitsu employees who received massive bonuses for their actions will ever return any of their ill-gotten gains.

Fujitsu still have numerous government contracts in the UK, so I'm sure the government does not want to upset them too much.

It is truly disgraceful how hundreds of innocent lives were ruined by false accusations of criminal activity that left them stunned and ostracized by their communities. Some of these individuals were even sent to prison. To rectify this injustice, the government should offer substantial compensation to those affected, issue a full apology, and clear all criminal records.

Watched the very good "Mr. Bates".

Yabaru,

In English, Quashed also means erased in a legal means. Once it is quashed it is as though it never happened.

More than 700 people running small local post offices received criminal convictions between 1999 and 2015. Many ended up bankrupt and shunned by their communities. Some were jailed. At least four people took their own lives.

It takes more than 20 years to finally to admit that and to remedy that, developed country showing developing country process. It shows how comfortable relation between government with corporation, even people are suffering.

Well Sunak got this one right, now force Fujitsu to compensate every single individual who was impacted..

Another British fine mess and, as usual we can expect "justice" to be slow and compensation inequitable. Like with Grenfell Tower, the guilty ones will not receive any punishment for their incompetence and irresponsibility.

This sounds ridiculous as someone could have personally check the records of sales. But as I experienced how nonsense things get exaggerated in UK that i was almost getting similar issue with the major phone company orange giving me to debt collectors for a bill that has been paid in normal date. It took me 6 months to clear myself, despite i had receipt When i called them for a faulty phone in another case, they charge BP1.99 per min for a local call in London. I was so glad to get out of there.

i hope poor people get some justice with decent compensation and removal of their criminal records.

The actions of PO investigators are criminally incompetent, the lies.

It make me very angry the lives families destroyed.

Sakurasaki:

It takes more than 20 years to finally to admit that and to remedy that, developed country showing developing country process.

Exactly. When will the courts apologize for this serious stalling of justice? When will the parliament enact laws to ensure speedy trials so that the accused stands trial and is exonerated or sentenced in under a month?

In English, Quashed also means erased in a legal means. Once it is quashed it is as though it never happened.

In English the word "quashed" means suppressed as well, in legal terms, and it is more commonly accepted than erased. For your benefit, here are examples, commonly used.

"She has quashed the efforts of municipalities to raise their own minimum wage".

"The riot was quashed by police".

"The couple quashed rumors that they were engaged".

"The Appeal Court has quashed the convictions of all eleven people

None of these imply "as though it never happened", but suppressed!
