I hope every last poacher fails or gets theirs in the end. Disgusting!

After a poaching case is closed, grind down the ivory and spread it widely over the land there. Don't let it leave.
There used to be 1.3 million elephants in Africa. Until that number is achieved, no more killing. The only way to make money from elephants should be through tourism. People on "safari" with cameras in Africa don't mind paying 20% more to see elephants. They are part of the Big 5 that are on everyone's list to see.
Ivory is most beautiful on a living, thriving, animal.
If there are too many elephants in the locations they mention, setup a relocation program via trains to other areas of Africa with fewer animals.
Any trade in ivory is detrimental.

The ivory trade results in too many elephants getting slaughtered for nothing. Kill them, take off the tusks and let the rest rot. A horrible repulsive wasteful practice. And Zimbabwe wants to make a profit from illegal poaching practices.
What would the world think if a nation were to make a profit from the cocaine trade? In the 80s a fascist regime ruling Bolivia did that but they were overthrown. And Manuel Noreiga of Panama did too and the US invaded Panama (for additional reasons as well) to flush that weasel out.
And now what Zimbabwe wants to do is just as disgusting. They got a lot of nerve to even suggest such a disgusting notion like this.

And that would make poaching unprofitable. Then with national authorities cracking down on the poachers, this lucrative illegal trade would end because nobody could profit from this wasteful practice.
Not to mention elephant riding. Locals would gladly serve tourists in that. I've ridden an elephant myself, it's quite an experience - let me tell you.
Ivory tusks are essential on elephants. And that's where they belong.
