It's all good. These bottom-feeders know full well the South Korean government is superior to them in terms of moving beyond things, and that they won't react poorly to them visiting the graves of some of the worst mass murderers in human history. But hey, don't ask them to go see Oppenheimer!

The Koreans still protest about the comfort women literally every week and have made videos of exchange students saying "Dokdo is Korean."

Posted in: More whales getting stranded in Osaka Bay amid global warming See in context

If these whales were found dead at the mouth of the Yodo River and the Sakai area then it's probably because the water is so polluted there.

They could have been sick before.

Posted in: S Korea forced labor victim gets compensation from Japanese firm See in context

The Japanese government already made reparations with the 1965 treaty. Instead of compensating the victims, the Korean government poured the money into the chaebol. The victims should be complaining to the Korean government, not the Japanese.

Posted in: S Korean court orders 2 Japanese companies to compensate wartime Korean workers for forced labor See in context

In this case, there are legit plaintiffs, the evidence supports abusive (to put in mildly) labor practices. The companies should be punished. I support the claimants. Pay up!

The Japanese government already paid with the 1965 treaty, but the Korean government poured the money into the chaebol instead of compensating the victims.

Posted in: What do you think are some of the major differences between J-pop and K-pop music? See in context

As someone who grew up listening to K-pop, I can't stand the music or its culture now.

Kpop is serious 4D chess with marketing.

It uses brainwashed fans to inflate numbers on YouTube and spam social media.

jpop on the other hand refuses to upload whole music videos, region locks music, and takes down older tunes out of some outdated view of media on the internet

To its credit, the J-pop industry is a lot better with that than it was in the 2010s.

Posted in: Wages finally rising in Japan, as inflation eats away at consumer gains See in context

2.19 million yen is $15,429, so compared to $22.500, Tokyo Barista only make around only 68% compared to New York Barista.

That ignores the insane costs of living in New York.

So many people here complaining about nothing. Celebrities practice smiling all the time.

As a Floridian, I will take a Mos Yasai Burger over any garbage from McDonald's. I agree that Lotteria is the worst, though.

The guy in the middle style of waving (or saluting), makes me think of another time and place!

The mind sees what it wants to see. The average person wouldn't even notice that.

Posted in: Understanding Valentine’s Day (and White Day) in Japan See in context

A Western idea appropriated for profit

Like Halloween, which was a pagan holiday until the West turned it into am excuse to get free candy and party? Or Santa Claus, who is based on the Christian figure St. Nicholas and is essentially a mascot bigger than Mickey Mouse?

Foul. What is so difficult about treating others as human beings?

Ask the hordes of people making anti-Japan comments on this site.

People on JT blame China all the time, yet when the American army messes up, they instantly cry xenophobia. So much hypocrisy.

First world countries need to do more to help developing countries. Besides exploiting them to make cheap clothes.

Terrible. The police didn’t even have to shoot, because the guy wasn’t armed.
