Well, you may say that people do this for political or economic reasons (to boost morale), but in history, accidents and miscalculations do happen. The last thing we want is to turn this region into another middle east, I hope all parties involved are very clear they have full control of the situation.

I think what Biden or America did was very responsible. By making its stance seemingly softer to China, US is giving both China and Japan each a kill switch. It is only in such a situation where both adversaries has an affirmative influence in the matter will they be calm and confident enough to manage their differences sensibly.

First move in cutting wasteful expenses - cut your hair short so you won't have to visit the saloon for at least a year.

I would rather have Kenji Sawada then, at least the music is better.

Posted in: J-pop industry taking the music out of music business See in context

Guys, I am not entirely familiar with the J-pop industry but I enjoy listening to Seiko Matsuda, Hitomi Shimatani, Mika Nakashima and Shokotan; are these crap music too?

J-pop in the 70's and 80's used to be really good because the most effective way to impress fans from all different markets during those days is through great music. With the advent of multi-media exposure the 'visual' aspect of music has taken on more prominance because visual elements can create a stronger impression than the audio ones. Anyway, some modern J-pop music like Mika Nakashima is really quite good.

Rare talent, bagpipe can sound fun too if you mix them with rock music like what ACDC did.

The previous year of the rat (1996) was a pretty good year for stock markets and economies around the world but 2008 was a totally different picture altogether. I hope we won't have to work like an ox in the coming year.

Posted in: Keep China on the capitalist road See in context

China had themselves to thank for not opening its financial market to derivatives, which has been abused for underwriting greed instead of risk. My opinion is that to a certain extend China is resembling the bubble years of Japan. Somehow no country can avoid going through some bubbles if they adopt capitalism.

Sounds like a hobby for the imagination to spin out of hand. If people like manga so much why not try to spread moral education through comics.

Nice antique restaurant, one thing you have to respect the Japanese is the care they took to look after their cultural and traditional relics.

Rest in peace, I believe that ghosts from her past is too much for her to bear, it could be worse if others intentionally play them up. I respect her effort to change her profession but then I guess people won't want to let go of her past for various silly reasons, and this is the result.

Isn't there a way to educate the whalers and consumers on the declining whale population. I am sure the whales are equally worried about their demography. Eat something else please.

If the big 3 were allowed to fail, those who remained in the industry will have a bigger part to play. The J auto makers may benefit tremenduosly if they can emerge from this financial slump relatively unscathed.

J ladies look better in JT because of this male-bonding session we are having now. I must admit my perspective is heavily influenced by all the pretty J-pop idols to an extend I have this bias that J ladies are always better looking.
