What's worse is that it is so easy to imagine that the workers with minimum wages are more prone to be under high stress level of emotional labor usually by serving customers. That's exactly what came to my mind at first. Many women are enslaved as a wife or a mother and unable to seek for help even if they are overwhelmed with raising kid, doing chores, going to work and taking care of almost everything around by herself while a husband weaponize his incompetence and deliberately ignore the problem/potential problem. Although what she did was totally not unforgivable, we need to look into what made her that way and try to save people who are suffering like her to prevent similar incident.

I am not opposed to the idea but I wonder why it's always the victim side that has to take measure in this country and they don't really do anything to try to regulate the sexual predators and pedophilias in more strict way. We should at least be able to share the information of those who with sexual criminal record.

It is actually illegal to have abortion in Japan. Maternal Helath Act make it okay to have abortion if you go to certain licensed doctor. You will be asked to have consent(signature) from the father of the baby, but some men ghosts women after the pregnancy. As you can read from below link, while a woman look for a doctor who will agree to terminate their pregnancy without the father's consent, the term limit exceeds and then she cannot have abortion anymore. (the Ministry stated that the consent from the father will no longer be needed in case of unusual case such as DVs though, since last year.)

Completely agreed. I hate how Japan's system and philosophy works in favor of corporation or government in so many ways. especially at work. Harassment is so normalized here they don't even realize they are violating human rights. This country is still infested with the old BS idea that people exists to serve for people at the top. Japan is patriarchal society and a company is like pseudo-family because of lifetime employment system, they think they can do anything to you and it's very narcissistic. I don't know why he stayed in Japan for decades but if I were him I'd be already long out of this country and get much better job with better work environment in other country.

It’s funny how Japanese government and big corporation are all about eco and SDGs to show off to other countries when one sixth of people are suffering from poverty. It disgusts me that the government waste our tax on stupidity like this while young women who suffers from mental illness and poverty caused by black company goes to city office to ask for help just to be told that she should work in sex industry. This country is broken.

The guy was arrested in 2016 and in 2017 for SA'ing other woman and assaulting a cop.

Justice system is broken if these kind of potential murderer is on the loose walking around.

Honestly I don't trust that the necessary budget will be used for the children. It will be probably be ripped off by companies/agencies that have close relationship with government like hyenas.

A lot of issues are intertwined but these ojisan exist basically because Japanese employment system is broken and it's extremely hard to fire employee no matter how incompetent or lazy they are. Old fashioned company used to take lifetime employment (seishain) and seniority based wage, so the more you stay in one company, the more your wage increases no matter how little you contribute to the company.

In my company case, some ojisans who are not in manager class do nothing/bare minimum job just to get by, because company politics allows only people who are convenient for bosses to become manager class. They take points-off system that if you challenge and fail, the responsibility is yours. but if you succeed, the bosses will take credit for it. Besides, in Japan it’s hard for workers to change jobs/company after they turn 35-40 unless you are a manager class because young workers are much preferred than workers who are over 35-40 so sometimes there is no other way for them than to stay in the company. (obviously this doesn’t apply to some industry or occupation though)
