If you want to take the consensus of the aviation forums like A-Liners for instance, those guys seem pretty dead set that it is a flaparon from a tripple-7, and that the serial numbers match. that's if one wants to go by the opinions of plane otaku through professional aviation professionals

"The suspects were identified as Shuichi Obitsu, a 46–year-old executive member of organized crime group Sumiyoshi-kai"
I'm curious, but this activity seems a little below someone who is an "executive" and of some age in the org. I'm wondering why an "executive" would be doing this opposed to some low ranking kobun.
I also don't get why they would got through the trouble of hauling out a large mikoshi, then try to scare people off with tatts and taunts? It would be like a guy dressed in a mascott costume jumping around and shouting "look at me" while his assistant is in a suit snapping and shaking his fist at the onlookers, "What are you looking at?"

As Nessie said, the overwhelming cause of aviation accidents are the result of pilot error, and the ones that are caused by maintenance or mechanical error also fall back on the pilot who usually deferred serving, or failed to notice a defect doing their walk around pre-flight check list. While there are maintenance faults can occur as a result of an error by a mech, unseen by the pilot, this is rarely the primary failure.
Haven't seen any video of the flight, and sadly this being a small GA A/C, it likely won't have a FDR or CVR, but I might be inclined to guess that there was a load issue, or a bad decision was made at V1 or V2 rotation

@JapanGal --> or, they'll snap and attack ya, or worse throw you off a platform in the path of an oncoming train. Japan seems to be suffering from a weird run of strange assaults and murders these days.

I don't see how Japan can revert to a low(er) profile now. Even if Japan decides to turn away even more from the Middle East or foreign involvement, IS will not take the same approach. Today it was those two japanese citizens over Japan's refusal to pay them 200M, tomorrow they may use the excuse of executing japanese citizens because a Mitsubishi company supplies electronic components to a U.S. or Brittish contractor who builds cars or trucks for the military. IS really doesn't need an excuse beyond, non-Muslim equals fair game.

Christine, a full flight doesn't mean it's profitable. There are many numbers beside load factors that determine a flight routes profitability.

Sadly I don't think education is going to work, M3. Documents such as te Koran are subject to interpretation. And this is where the power of clerics to tell people what those old words mean. It is no different than a Christian who reads the bible or a Jewish person reading the Torah. Five people, five different interpetations. Say with radical Islam growing, the clerics just gain more influence. (PS sorry for any typos, my old eyes can see this little iphone screen so well anymore, and the app isn't so great either).

Not sure there is a way to fight this. This is a war on idealiligy. The same as with the U.S. War in Vietnam. Islamic extremism is nothing new, only the name. Today it's ISIL, yesterday Al Quida, teeny years ago, Hesbolah, and Hamas, forty years ago, the PLO.

What I hate is when the FA asks everyone to out those seats up for meal service. Then as soon as the FA is gone recline the dam. Seat when your tray is down and your food is on the tray. Happened to the poor woman beside me. Knocked her food off the table and all over her.

Pukey?! What does the city of Detroit have to do with the airport? The airport is a private entity run by Wayne County. It's a wonderful airport to connect through.

This is a sad day for anyone in japan who is a street photographer. I suppose that in today's day and age, Henry Cartier-Bresson, Eliot Erwitt, Moriyama and so forth would be in jail now.

It's not a great plan at all from a locals perspective but from the international visitors point of view, it looks a lot more attractive. The DC area has been on this bike lane kick for years yet seem heavily underused as well. I'd say most people using the bike lanes are tourists.
