Posted in: Obama, GOP talk compromise, conflict See in context

There's a difference between compromise and doing what the republicans want. No reversal of health care and maybe a compromise on tax cuts. Rich dudes are still going to see their taxes increase. < :-)

The bush tax cuts will expire before the new republicans come into power. I'm glad that they will still expire.

I'm not worried about the increase in republican congressmen. They can't change what has been passed and now the party of "NO" will be begging the democrats for compromise. < :-)

The democrats got the big thing that we wanted these past 2 years. There could have been more, but we got the biggest things. Financial Reform and Health Care Protection.

The republicans that come in aren't enough to take control of the congress so they can't reverse these changes.

And they aren't going to extend the bush tax cuts during the lame duck session.

Oh..oh.. remember the "Party of No?" If they want to do anything these next 2 years they have to come to the democrats and "COMPROMISE". heh..heh..heh. < :-)

Democrats have known for almost two years that this was going to be a tough election. We knew we'd lose seats. But the republicans will never get the numbers needed to reverse anything.

This next two years will be a tough two years.

Ans just a reminder. Anything that the congress passes has to get signed or vetoed. Then find the votes to surpass a veto. < :-)

Hmmmm, Big news. No.

We poured money into Iran for years. We poured money into Iraq. We pour money into Afghanistan. We give away money in an effort to buy influence.

Iran does the very same thing.

Bring our troops home today. < :-)

It's not going to change anything. The republicans can't get enough power to reverse Obama's changes and they can't force anything through. Talk about a stalemate. < :-)

Wow, I love hearing the republicans whining about Bill Clinton. I don't see the republicans pulling out george bush to garner republican activity. I mean there isn't much difference. They were both liars. Clinton lied for a piece of ass and george bush lied to start a war. And we know how republicans love wars.

Bill Clinton always has had that gift of gab. So you'd expect the democrats to pull Bill out to rally support. Will it be enough, probably not. But we've known we were going to lose a few seats two years ago. < :-)

Hmmm, I see your point. But I believe that there is a difference here. We're (The USA) looking for your allegiance to be a loyal US citizen, but not strip your heritage away from you.

To me, it looks like they want the new citizens to forfeit their heritage and from that point on they are not to recognize their heritage. Now I think I'm looking at it differently than you. I understand what you're saying. < :-)

U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips’ landmark ruling also ordered the government to suspend and discontinue all pending discharge proceedings and investigations under the policy.

U.S. Department of Justice attorneys have 60 days to appeal. Pentagon and Department of Justice officials said they are reviewing the case and had no immediate comment.

Looks like the judge does have jurisdiction and the authority.

I don't think that we're going to see much action. The military doesn't really want to fight this in the courts. The administration doesn't want to try to take this through the legislators and this way Obama can allow it become a done deal without any effort. < :-)

If loyalty pledges were all that and a bag of chips we'd still have them. But we don't. Because they are written to satisfy the aims and goals of a few extreme conservatives. < :-)

I'm just sure that this bill will make non-jews feel more accepted and I'm sure that the jews will treat the non-jews much more equal and not second class any longer.

This is one of the dumbest things I've heard of since we used to cut our wrist as children and become blood brothers in some boys club. < :-)

Last administration, if you got money from the US, you were required to kill Iraqi citizens. Whether you believe the falsified facts or not.

I think Obama is more talking about the quote:

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Lao Tzu

Help other countries, not just give. I like the concept. < :-)

Troops are tested once every six months

Actually that's once a year during their yearly Physical Health Assessment. It's a routine matter.

Policy bills like DADT and DREAM should be individual bills that pass or fail on their own individual merit

I agree, but it wasn't and it's a fact that the republicans stopped the bill that would allow gays to serve in the military. The republicans stopped it.

Big deal. < :-)

Alphaape

Bull Connor, Geroge Wallce Sen. Byrd were all Democrats.

And they were voted in over and over again because blacks were helped by them. Every time they passed a bill to help poor whites, it helped poor blacks. So from that perspective these democrats were put back into office over and over.

Helter_Skelter

I find it sort of ridiculous for the sitting Presient to tell a froup of people that they should only vote becase of their ethnic identity.

All george bush had to do was talk and whites came out, but he also knew that most blacks weren't his supporters. bush was mayonnaise jar white.

Well, I'm not black, but I am an Obama supporter. < :-)

And you believe that if we deprive the budget of these taxes it'll make things so much better?

Banks got bailouts and they hold on to the money and don't make loans.

$$Millions of dollars stashed and no hiring going on.

Considering the challenges we've faced, we could be a hell of a lot worse.

Yeah, we're better off then if we had had a republican elected president. < :-)

The republicans have had 8 years of these wonderful tax cuts. They have downsized, stashed $Millions and done nothing to stimulate the economy or create jobs.

After knowing they would end, they continue to complain even after we see the depth of the country's debt.

The republicans want to fill their rich pockets and to hell with the country. < :-)
