Another possibility is additional trading partners. Perhaps inviting other countries in the region to join the CPTPP, including Indonesia and Philippines. Malaysia and Singapore are already members, as is the UK.

The ones that have stuck in my head are Kurtis Blow's "These are the Breaks" and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five's "The Message". Run-D.M.C. and Aerosmith did a great version of "Walk This Way". Perhaps better than the original?

Posted in: Trump tries to move past his guilty verdict by attacking the criminal justice system See in context

The tipping point in this case could have been Michael Cohen's testimony about an online tech company called Red Finch. The jury heard defense counsel ask Mr. Cohen about a $50,000 to Red Finch. He admitted to stealing $30,000 of the payment. One for Mr. Trump's team. The prosecutor on cross-examination asked what that payment was for. According to Mr. Cohen, the $50,000 was to boost then President Trump's ratings in an online opinion poll about "History's Most Notable Leaders", a poll unrelated to the election. But the payment to Red Finch may have been enough to shift the jury's thinking about whether Mr. Trump's was guilty or not guilty.

Mr. Trump owes the State of New York nearly $454 million, including interest, and the amount is going up by $87,502 every day until he pays. If he wishes to appeal the verdict, he needs to put up $354.8 million dollars.

Perhaps the CEOs of Japanese firms can start to breath a little easier.

The inflation rate is at 3.1% and the unemployment rate is at 3.7%. A soft landing that few predicted for the American economy back in 2022. Perhaps no recession after all? Perhaps a Biden re-election? (Thanks in part to former President Trump's nominee, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.) Funny that.

Posted in: Trump waives right to speedy trial as Georgia prosecutor seeks to try him with 18 others next month See in context

This is what the former President and Republican members of the House and Senate may need to worry about:

Fourteenth Amendment  Equal Protection and Other Rights

Section 3 Disqualification from Holding Office

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Actually, McCarthy and the rest should be more worried about about Trump will be barred from being on the ballots of some, if not all, states. If successful, perhaps members and candidates running for a House or a Senate seat may be next.
