Posted in: Businesses pin hopes on foreign tourists as Japan set to reopen border See in context

Japan is opening shyte. Sorry. Tourists need a visa. The free visa is still not reintroduced. That is not convenient. And then tourists have to follow outdated rules. This will not work. Kishida, please decide what you want, either tourists and money or the fairytale of being tough. This gibberish of in between does and will not work.

Please check the Korean post, the issue is that Koreas court made a ruling last year that the Korean government has to actively try to settle the problem. But the court left open how to achieve this. So now instead for the Korean government to pay by state owned money the politicians try to milk japan first. Actually this demand seems to come from the government and not from the comfort women organizations.

If this was Greece the japanese parties would be too afraid to get anything going. Ozawa may have a point but he is not in the position to claim it as he does not care for the people himself too.

What is this ? The club of indifference? This is so out of line it is near comedy. I don't care for their personal opinion, but if they speak in official position this is really embarassing for all of us. Get some education, maybe there should be after parliament history class for all of them? Wouldnt that be nice?

Posted in: Areas near nuclear plant may be unlivable forever, gov't says See in context

Finally some sense here. I hate to break it, but I got the impression that people living there before would like to return no matter what they are being told. While I understand this behavior, I am pleased to see the government taking some responsibilty

Hey Western countries where was your support for Iran when it was clear old president Chatami will be gone? Ahmadinedschad in power now is also a mistake of a lack of intrests... But I am partly relieved to see that from Israels side there is some ratio still at work and there will be maybe no military conflict.

@ihope2eatwhales. I agree with you. Some posters here did not get the meaning of the court request. So whilst the court did not follow an immediate request to stop SS, there will be a ruling later on. The issue here is violence at sea, not whaling. And even though all of us want to see fair justice, this will just follow international law...

I remember reports that tepco wanted to pull out from the plant after the first explosion and see where its going from there. Please feel free to check, I guess there was an anouncement on Jt. But fortunately Jan insisted and tepco employees kept on working and fighting! Imagine the situation that time when your energy company comes to you as prime minister and starts talking about pulling out......unbelievable!

Posted in: Noda says no decision yet on reducing Iran oil imports See in context

the whole idea about stop buying oil from Iran seems a bit seensless. If you look at the chart, then it is simple to redistrubute the amount of oil not sold to Japan or Italy to China or else. Iran will surely find a buyer. And if giving up the Japanese share no, who knows Japan may "get" it back later, when the crisis is over. So simply following the US approach seems not a good option.

Of course this seems weird. But in case of surprise guests it is always good to have some extra cash for the small necessities like cars, houses, countries or votes.... No intend to imply anything

Surely this rather badly timed request/bid to the Aussie government will not help to calm down the issue. Though I am not waiting for more incidents I fear this years whaling season will bring on further trouble for all parties involved.

To my humble understanding, even a warship may enter national waters, as stated in the sea law convention, if the intend means no harm. This happens when eg us ships make a port call. Nevertheless even if the Aussie pm states that the sm2 entered aussi waters, this does not necessarily mean it is correct. No offense to our Australian nationals intended.

Mayb this is part of a deal between PRC and US to get some releif on the issue they had about the Ruanby and the announcement that US will think about trade blockades... But I also agree with the comments above that PRC needs the Us for having access for a big customer market.
