I hope the front window isn't glass. Imagine how it would be for the driver if two of those things collided!

If the flight came from Los Angeles, I'm surprised it only had two positives on board. It has been reported that one in three people in LA have been infected.

One measure which all airlines should implement and retain permanently is boarding the plane from the rear first. It would save so much time and avoid so much inconvenience. The system of priority boarding doesn't benefit premium and business class passengers much, as they simply have to sit in their seats for longer before the plane departs. Its main effect is to penalise economy class passengers, and presumably that is its main purpose. Considering what a dreary experience the flight itself is going to be for them, it is rather vindictive to subject them to the further indignity of having to squeeze and stumble past people who are still trying to sort themselves out before they sit down.

Perhaps, rather than being "defunded", the WHO needs to be beefed up and made more effective. Ideally it should have the mandatory authority to order worldwide measures to combat disease outbreaks as serious as this one. But, like most supranational organisations, the WHO's authority is only theoretical, because there are enough authoritarian regimes around the world that would never be prepared to cede control, while other states would be less than enthusiastic.

"Recession", "depression"? I don't think so. "implosion" or "collapse" would be nearer the mark this time, given that the conditions will sooner or later be the same the world over..
