Posted in: Driver talking on smartphone flees from police, hitting woman on bike See in context
@gobshite "Not sure why this story needs to specify "smartphone", just attention grabbing? The same result would happen if the driver used a "feature" phone, or indeed was feeding his face with an onegiri."
Because that detail is part of the story. If the driver was eating an onigiri then they would have used that as well. So many people complain of shoddy news articles which lack details, but as soon as they include them people complain.
I don't know, perhaps they should just have written "Woman hit by man in a car."

@turbotsat they are "special". They feel that what applies to foreigners doesn't apply to them because their own government has not admitted to or informed them of anything else.

"with this great description of the suspects it can only be a matter of time. Saitama cops are the best in the land, as we all know." What kind of description are you looking for? Black hair, pants and a shirt? Both spoke Japanese during the assault?

jbro888, because it publicly shames them and offers a little more punishment to would be followers. And you know Japan has some followers who don't think for themselves. Just like Hoshino in this case. Frigging dummies can't think for themselves... always gotta follow other people's examples.

I would be happy to help subdue one of these clowns. That crap better never happen in the same railcar as me. I may accidentally subdue him too hard and break a rib with my knee on his back.

Well, now there will be more likely of a chance to catch the perp now that he/she is leaving trails by emails and phones. Eventually the perp will be caught on a security camera somewhere, and hopefully it will be before doing more damage.
