I think certain extreme, particulary heinous crimes warrant the death penalty.

The crime defines the criminal, but the punishment defines the society that impose it. You are arguing that particularly heinous crimes justify devolving the progress of society a couple centuries.

YES!

Please do not bring these American sized oil thirsty tanks over to Japan, there's no need for such cars it's just manly men buying bigger toys.

You clearly don't know about cars. They are smaller than say a Toyota Alphard people mover and use less fuel than one. I can name at least 10 models of Japanese made cars on the roads in Japan now that are larger than one of these and use double the amount of fuel

I can remember when Holden was Australian.

Stop it, you're making me emotional. The avoidable demise of the Australian automative manufacturing industry still makes my blood boil. A topic for another day, perhaps.

I hate to say it but if Holden and Falcon had kept up with build quality like all the other manufactures they would still be there.

Car manufactures do not stop building cars that sell and make profit.

The only problem will be with their weigth, as many underground parking lots don't allow cars over 2t.

They don't weight over 2ton. About 1.5 is the curb weight on one

Oversized vehicles are terrible to drive. Body roll on the slightest of curves.

I am guessing you have never driven a late model one. Total rubbish, they drive perfect

At a loss for words how this could even happen when these 2 people paid taxes in Japan for 45 odd years only to be ignored by the government when they need help

The house you have is it in Ishikawa? I would guess people don't want to leave their area.

No, not the same area. But what would you prefer? Sleeping in a car with your wife and 2 children in the snow with no food or water or a warm house outside the area with food and water and zero cost?

I asked on a previous posting about this on if there is a system in place for me to offer my house to a family in need.

Get this!..I have since found out that almost every prefecture in Japan have had people offering the same thing from their locals and the offer has been sent in from all these prefectures, i'm talking thousands of offers! Yet for some reason these offers are not getting through to the people in need! WHY?!!

I wonder why they don't convert shipping containers into temporary mobile (heated) homes for these people?

Because there is a shortage of shipping containers at the moment.

Military spending and donations to wars that Japan has nothing to do with

Is anyone aware of a system where one can offer a home for a family free of charge? Our house is large, modern, warm and has 3 big empty bedrooms and I would welcome a family in need to have a place to stay until things settle down.

Mr. QToday  07:05 am JST

Everyone seems to be praising the escape, but 18 minutes seems really long. The passengers could have easily been killed by smoke inhalation. The doors should have been open seconds after coming to a stop.

They would have first needed to evaluate what doors to open, if they got that wrong people could have been going down a slide into the flames. Thats why the small delay.

This is the end of Daihatsu. Between the loss of consumer confidence and the collective civil liability, they won’t survive.

Yes they will. A very similar thing happened to Mitsubishi around 20 years ago. It was big news but they survived.

As long as the govt gets the military weapons they are spending trillions of yen on its all ok. Aged care facilities are well down the list of important items to spend money on.

¥110 is still cheap. The increase adds ¥3900 per week to a business that posts 30 letters per day. A private person who send say 1 letter per week adds ¥1352 per year to their expenses. All businesses are allowed to make a profit and if this increase is how one business can stay afloat and employ thousands of people across Japan I am happy to contribute

Rupert SpiraToday  02:49 pm JST

Australia is far more conservative and less welcoming of foreign residents than its neighbour NZ.

They deport anyone with a criminal record who was born in NZ but lived all their life in Australia and they turn away thousands of migrants who NZ allows in.

The problem is not with the migrants in Austiral the poblem it with Australian society and the administration.

You have made it sound worse than it is but you are on the right path yes

Jorgey GeorgiosToday

Damn, why so many old people that killed?

Chico3Today

I've never heard of so many elderly suicides in my life. Man! What's the deal?

Because the Japanese government support for the elderly is nothing short of appalling! The government think its more important to spend billions of yen increasing their military power (that is not needed) and to give away billions of yen in support of wars in other countries that (Japan has no involvement in). And the money they are giving away has come from the taxes of the same elderly who are killing themselves who are doing so as they can no longer support themselves. But as long as Kashida looks like "The Man" that makes it all good.
