Posted in: 10% consumption tax will destroy Japan, argue some See in context

Why not consider first raising the consumption tax from 5% to 7.5%. Do this immediately, and consider raises in the following years. That's my suggestion. Also I don't believe even doubling the tax to 10% will hurt the country that much. Here in California, our local sales tax is 9.75%. That's almost 10%!!! our sales taxes have been increased frequently, although one can ask if that's helped much as we're still on the verge of BK due to huge debts and budget overruns.

Sorry to hear this, hope no one got seriously hurt. But if this was in the US, it would have been bullets flying instead of stun guns. We just recently had a string of restuarant robberies in the Oakland, CA area. Robbers with guns, knives, everything except the kitchen sink.

I think KK donuts is going bankrupt here in America. Many of the stores have closed. That stuff has so much colesterol, miles well just shoot fat directly into the blood stream. Not that regular donuts are all that healthy, but this stuff does wonders for companies that build those heart attack machines. You know the ones you see in the movies, they say "clear" and the body jumps from the electrical charge......

Wonder why they are doing that? Be like an American company holding it's annual meeting in the USA in Polish?

I'm pro death penalty, but this type should be banned. They said of the 5 shooters, they gave 1 shooter a blank bullet....guess that's suppose to help them sleep at night. In California, we use the gas chamber, which is fine. Some US states still use the electric chair, some they give poison drugs, and I think there is even a state that does hanging, like they did in the 1860's. The death penalty in america is necessary to punish murderers, and to prevent future serious crimes. It's a must.

Posted in: Obama accuses BP of recklessness in national TV address See in context

I'll tell you why people in America are focused on BP. These are what appear to be the facts. This was a leased rig, but BP had control and made all important decisions regarding the operation of the rig. BP decieded NOT to follow safety protocols that are standard in the industry which would heve PREVENTED this incident. Instead, they went ahead with a risky process to save money that led to this major economic as well disasteroius incident that killed people, destroyed peoples livelihood as well as the wildlfe in the gulf. This is like you renting a house, allow someone to get hurt in the house by your negligence, then saying, "duh, I'm just the renter". One of the minor investors and BP's partner for the rig(can't remember their name, starts with an A- but looks like they are lawyering up" said today BP acted in a manner which looks like "gross negligence". The more I see of this, BP is going to have to go into bankrupcy. If gross negligence is involved, lawsuits won't be limited to property damage, but punitive damages will be awarded. US courts have awarded vey high punitive damages amounts in the past for agregious cases such as this. So we may be talking about much more then clean up costs and reembursement of the fishermen for lost wages. There are now 250 cases filed against BP in US courts. And some of the 40% of US shareholders are considering filing a lawsuit against BP. That was on the news today.

First, let me clear this up. The whaling industry wound NOT be involved in this type of behavior. It's a simple matter of it being both unethical and immoral. The ides of providing women for sex and bribing people stopped like 40 years ago. Also as a citizen of the United Stated, I can say us Americans also would never to something like this, so please let's drop this.......
