Japan needs to think out of the box... Just reclaim land around Senkaku like the Chinese did in the Paracels, build a base and move the US Marines from Futenma there. The Japanese were able to build KIX in Osaka on reclaimed land. Kill two birds with one stone.

I take my mother to this hospital once a month. If you're parked for over 30 minutes it asks for 100 yen even if you get stamped after showing your hospital receipt to the man at the door. I've always thought it cheap for them to charge even a hundred yen. If they want this money they should just charge an extra 100 yen on the medical bill. Or install cameras that takes a pic of your license plates like they do at some malls here and have them pay at a machine before you get in the car. Anyway, I've seen many people here fumbling with coins at this exit. Maybe they needed a big concrete block in front to prevent someone to just ram thru accidentally like this lady did. There's nothing to separate except for a few planters and flowers. Of course I feel so sorry for the two that were killed but I feel for her too. She's been visiting her hospitalized husband almost every day for several months. He's on his deathbed. I hope he did not get this news that she killed people. My mom is also 83 with a license but do not permit her to drive after I saw her almost hitting a bicycle about 6 months ago. She's started havin dementia recently too.
I wonder if this lady didn't have family to stop her from driving.

Move Futenma to Senkaku after reclaiming land there... Japan has the know-how to create the Kansai International airport... China's doing the same thing in other disputed areas...

As I've said several times in other posts on Japan Today, the Japanese Government should move Futenma MCAS to Senkakus after reclaiming it instead of moving to Henoko against the wish of the people of Okinawa. The Senkaku islands are Japan's sovereign land which Japanese nationals cannot step foot on. What good is that? The Chinese are reclaiming land in disputed areas in the Spratleys; why can't Japan reclaim land over at the Senkakus and move the US Military there? What's China gonna do? Start WW3? I don't think they are that stupid.

They are only paying respect to the people who died in the war. My Japanese grandfather died in this war, I'm sure cabinet ministers have relatives who died in the war too. It's pretty similar to us going to Arlington every memorial day to pay respect for our loved ones that perished in our wars. No war is good. That said, my dad is buried at Arlington too.

Does Japan have to keep on apologizing every single year?? How long do you have to keep apologizing to descendants that your ancestors hurt? Bygone is bygone. We just have to not let it happen again.
The Murayama and Kono apologies should stand.

This is what Onaga and Abe should agree to do. They need to think out of the box.
Do some land reclamation on the Senkaku islands and create a base there and move MCAS Futenma. It's Japan's sovereign territory that even Japanese nationals cannot step foot on by law. It's part of Okinawa prefecture so the J government can keep the military presence on Okinawa. Can also be a deterrence to the Chinese. Heck, the Chinese are building a base by reclaiming some land on corals in the Spratly islands west of the Philippine island of Palawan so they can't say $41t.
Just my 2 cents.
