Posted in: Consumer Affairs Agency urges fines for companies that mislabel products See in context

They should not call it "mislabel". It is simple label fraud and should be punished as such. It is a joke, that you can commit fraud in Japan like this and nothing happens to the company. Their CEOs belong in jail. This would stop it for sure.

Posted in: U.S. activist barred from Taiji Whale Museum files suit See in context

To deny someone entry into a country just because you don't like what he is doing (he did not commit any crime in Japan) is just extremely stupid from Japan. It could happen in a country like China or Iran but should not happen in a modern democratic society. If he would commit a crime of course they could punish him. Hunting Dolphins is not a tradition in Taiji at all. They started doing this in the late 60s. And nowadays less and less people are eating dolphin meat so the main reason for doing this is for capturing and selling dolphins to aquariums mostly in Asia for a high profit. No tradition just money. The EU does not allow this trade anymore. Also the fishermen of Taiji are killing them in an extreme cruel way by driving a needle into their spine. It could take minutes till they finally die. They kill them because Dolphins are a competition for them. Like one Dolphin eats about 30kg of fish every day. So here you go. Japan does not realize that they loose a lot of sympathy world wide especially in the US, Australia and Europe. Countries which are very important for them. Both sides can not win this, they should try to find a compromise. Ric O’Barry is not like Sea Shepherd, he distances himself from them. He is working together with japanese groups. He is someone you can work with. But Japan's stance in this is very stubborn and childish.

France "kick started its economy??? Abe just showed (again) that he lost sense of reality. The truth is more like: France's Economic Plan: Hope for Miracles. France becomes more and more the sick country of Europe.

@lucabrasi if you could understand German and would be able to read the Schalke supporter comments you would know that they are not happy with him. The team will add a new player next season and Uchida will have more time to exchange messages with Honda during game time.

Posted in: On the bench See in context

All japanese players who went to PL didn't make it as a regular player. Now Honda, by chasing his dream he ended up on the bench. Japanese Players needs to become more realistic about their abilities. Uchida only plays regular at Schalke because no competition from another player for his position. He is widely critizised by the supporters. All other Bundesliga players play at low ranked teams.

Some of the comments above said, that the issue was already settled with the 1965 agreement between Kapan and South Korea. But what about the women from other countries? Like China, North Kora, the Netherlands, Australia and the UK?

Just another sign of japanese decadence. Japanese people became by now maybe the most materialistic people in the world. It's all about money. But if i recall the latest food fraud scandals here in this country I would not be suprised if those mangoes were just some pretty normal ones, maybe even imported from the Philippines, lol.

Posted in: Japan, U.S. trade talks fail to close gap over TPP See in context

TPP will not happen with Japan. It looks like they focus more now on reaching free trade agreements with AUS (already done), the EU and maybe Korea and China. After I read more about the TPP I believe this would be a much better deal for Japan and its people.

Posted in: Disappointed Abe says Japan will abide by ruling on whaling See in context

Abe and his government are happy about this ruling. In public they say they are disappointed but in fact they are relieved. Every year this was a PR disaster for Japan, and whaling needed a lot of public money to keep it running. They could not end it by themselves. Nationalistic pressure would be too great and the right wing press would hunt them for this. Now they saved the face and can blame it on the foreigners.

Posted in: Urawa plays in empty stadium after racist sign See in context

This is a joke and so typical japanese over reaction. I am a non japanese Reds supporter and know more than most of you about the "Banner Gate". It was stupid to put the banner and the ones who put it were caught and punished (stadium ban for life!!!, that's harder than you get for serious crime) The decission from Urawa to ban all flags and banners at the stadium is just stupid. It is also collective punishment. Japan needs a honest and serious discussion about racism in this country but the whole reaction shown by J-League and Urawa shows that this will not happen. It had nothing to do with Lee, but it was put at the entrance of the Ultra Block because in the past some non japanese Reds supporters didn't follow the rules of the Ultra Supporters. That's what's all behind this "BIG" Story. It was not intend to be racist but it was understood this way.

The NRA just only criticizes them. That's all. Always the same. TEPCO knows that and that's why they don't do anything. Maybe bow in front of the cameras to put on a nice show for the japanese public. It's a farce and a joke. Their CEO belongs in jail and their company destroyed.

Posted in: Dolphin hunt goes on after slaughter See in context

The Dolphins are not for eating, they sell them to marine parks and aquariums around the world. One young Dolphin brings a profit of up to 300.000 US$. Tradition my arse. Dolphin hunting in Taiji started in the late 1960s. The whole world is against Japan. After Tohoku they got so much friends and sympathy all over the world, including Asia. In just 3 years it's mostly all gone. Well done, Mr.Abe!!

Posted in: Taiji official says Kennedy should come and see dolphin hunt See in context

They will never show to her the reality. The Dolphin kill/hunt is a brutal and cruel business. Has nothing to do with tradition, they started this killing spree in 1969. Japan is a pathetic country and they don't realize they are living in a global village. The "invitation" to Kennedy just shows that they just don't get it. It's even an insult to her and to humanity. "Please come Kennedy-san and watch how nicely we murder the Dolphins" They just don't get it. Kennedy should show them the middle finger or bring some Sea Sepherd activists with her. Like I said, pathetic country.

Posted in: Germany urges Japan to deal honestly with WWII past See in context

Was it really the only way? For the common japanese it was easy not to see his own guilt after the US said the Tenno was innocent. (They did not say it, but by not charging him in court, they send the message) If the Tenno was not to blame how could the japanese people be responsible as they just following orders from the Tenno?

1 ( +13 / -12 )

Posted in: Germany urges Japan to deal honestly with WWII past See in context

The US is mostly to blame for the japanese failure to deal with its past. They prevented that the emperor was charged for his role in the war. The US also prevented an japanese attempt to establish its own court after the war to deal with those responsible for the war. The general mood in Japan after the war was total different from what it is now. Especially in culture (movies, literature) there was a strong left mood in this country. Large public rallies in front of the palace with more than 50000 people who wanted the Tenno be held accountable for his role. All those attempt were stopped by the US.
