IPhone quake alert went off just once, never felt any shaking in Yokohama. I was surprised to see the alarm went off AFTER the quake! Useless application indeed!

An ambassador's job is to promote good relations between countries, in other words, be a DIPLOMAT, this man needs to be removed as ambassador if China wants to be represented in a friendly diplomatic way! WW 2 has been over for almost a century, learn from it so that we don't repeat it!

Singapore is smart, smoking is banned in shops and restaurants but, they provide large ashtrays on the corners of streets so that people don't litter the place with cigarettes and non-smokers can avoid the smoking area. Perhaps the so-called model should drive around in her smoke-free car and avoid people altogether!

This is definitely a super typhoon! Even though the sun is shining now, the winds have busted, broken and blown everything in and around my neighborhood! Hell knows how much cleaning I'll have to do in my garden tomorrow!

Posted in: 1 dead, 4 injured after group hit by car in park near pool See in context

I understand old people having to drive in rural areas where there is no public transportation, but these people drive daily and are dependent on their vehicles. The problem in the city is with so-called Sunday drivers who seldom drive. Add old age to this group and you end up often, with a tragedy. People over 70 should depend on public transport or get someone else to drive. I have encounted many of these loony drivers on the road and they are a public nuisance. There are too many drivers in Japan, anyway. There are plenty of delivery services, taxis and convenient stores where old people can shop without having to drive.

Posted in: More details emerge over murder of girl on mountain See in context

We can put the blame on Line, Twitter, FB, whatever, but they are the actual sites that solve quite a bit of these so-called 'mysteries'. We pay for progress but, would be much harder to solve these murder cases without DNA and social media services! There is a good and bad side to everything, depends on which side people prefer to stay on!

Posted in: 10 tips to help you survive the Japanese summer See in context

I have bamboo blinds on every window in the house and just leave my laundry window open so that the air can blow through to the rest of the place, under the doors. I have the A/C on, but turn it off at intervals. The fan needs to be on all day, I do have cats and they are good at finding places to cool down, as long as they have lots of drinking water! Strangely enough, drinking coffee actually cools me down, I am not a lover of cold cold drinks but a lovely iced towel does help when I have to go out, at least to get to the train station. And, I don't think it's too feminine to see men carrying Summer umbrellas. It is a smart thing, next to wearing a hat!

About time! The number of injuries and deaths are astounding due to people not wearing helmets, but, this said, the number of car accidents caused by cyclists are astounding, as well! People here should learn how to ride bikes, follow the rules of the road and stop carting children around on the front and backs of bikes! They banned people using phones and head-sets (thank God) but, still doesn't stop them from riding, recklessly! And, for God's sake, oil your dang breaks!!

I don't answer the door unless I know who is coming and I can see who is at the door. And, if they do catch me going out or coming home, I have a TV that is not in use, so I will offer it to them at a price, if they refuse it then I will refuse to pay their extortion fees! Was wondering why all my neighbors don't have their names up at their entrances, perhaps NHK is the reason! Taking mine down now!

Posted in: Woman, 'unaware' she was pregnant, delivers baby into cesspool See in context

I believe this to be true as I once knew a woman who was grossly over-weight and constantly had stomachaches. Even her husband had no idea she was pregnant. Her menstrual cycle was always irregular and and they simply thought she was putting on more weight. Her stomachaches suddenly got worse and she had to call an ambulance, in which she delivered the baby! Some people are very naive and so out of touch with their bodies, but, such is our world!

The NHK sales people are a bunch of rude gangsters! I had one man try to force his way into my house to see if I had a TV and another two, who persistently rang my bell and kicked my door while shouting profanities! Since they were recorded on my door monitor phone, the owner of the apartment building said he was going to complain to NHK and claim for the damage the salesman did to the door! Good luck NHK, you are not getting one red cent out of me!

Posted in: Station official allowed subway train to leave despite woman being on tracks See in context

It's hard to believe that any station would have a 10" gap between the train and the platform. They'd be kids and drunks falling through it daily! My foot slipped through a 5" gap in Disneyland once, twisting my ankle. If this woman had fallen while the train was stationery, why wasn't everyone shouting? Bit too vague for me!

Posted in: Gov't - but not Ishihara - backs away from Hashimoto's comfort women comments See in context

Nothing decent has ever come out of Hashimoto's mouth, from trying to force government workers to own up to having tattoos and face the consequences of be fired if they do, or be fired if they don't own up, to this now unfathomable remark about the multitude of women forced into prostitution. Coming from a paternal 'mafia' background, I often wonder how and why this creep was even allowed into politics! He has no regard for peoples' rights or feelings and he is just as bad as Hashimoto in almost deliberately trying to destroy relations with neighboring countries. If people continue to praise or allow these two mongrels to stay in power, there has got to be something wrong with this government and country!

In Bali, it is usually the Javanese that come to Bali to sell drugs to tourists on the beach, the minute the traveler hands over the money, the cops seem to appear from nowhere! This happened to a Japanese friend of mine who was told that if he didn't pay a US$2000 fine, he wouldn't be set free! It's all rigged! But, I do respect the laws of the countries that have severe penalties for serious drug pushers! Funny though how the island pushers don't get penalized!

A two-month old would have been in the usual sling that either mothers or fathers have, to put their babies in. One just doesn't wander around a river with a tiny new-born in their arms. To lose a baby out of one's arms like that is unbelievable! There has to be more to the story!
