Posted in: Quality of daycare in Japan deteriorating See in context

I used to work in an international daycare and yes, it was prestigious and expensive, and like Burning Bush has said, I have seen a few moms running around the the best brands money can buy to go off and have cake sets and shopping sprees with their friends, but the larger majority were the opposite. Needing two incomes to provide the best education for their families. And yes, both types of moms (and many fathers too) were there for every single event we had, no matter how small.

The government, for its part, is already considering compiling a fresh fiscal stimulus package and delaying next year’s sales tax hike to prevent external headwinds from derailing a fragile economic recovery.

Actually, Japan Today, it was stated in an article earlier this week that Abe had already decided NOT to delay the sales tax hike. You are giving conflicting information. Please be careful.

Moderator: Abe has not announced anything definite yet.

I guess it would help if you had all of your meals at home, but many Japanese dishes are LOADED with sodium so once you left the house you wouldn't be able to really reduce the salt intake without changing eating habits.

Its really scary that a country the size of California has a nearly daily occurrence of mom killing their kids..yes Japan is safe when compared to some other countries, but it seems like you have your own family members to be afraid of instead.

Posted in: Magazine says pollen allergy being blown way out of proportion See in context

Japan does have this weird interest in hay fever and pollen allergies and even better is that many of my Japanese friends believe this is special to only Japan. The city of Atlanta is literally coated with the yellow stuff in the high seasons with pollen counts listed with the weather information. However, a good dose of claritin will fix you right up. Won't go into the inefficacy of Japanese over-the-counter-drugs.

Posted in: 'Batman v Superman' signals a new dawn for DC Comics See in context

Saw it last weekend...It definitely had flaws and IMO Lex Luthor was horribly cast and Lois Lane was a waste of life, but Ben Affleck was a great Batman. This definitely isn't a genre changer, but it was alright. They tried too hard to set up for the Justice league and they had way too many story lines which led to many plot holes. The best parts honestly were Batman's. I just hope going forward, they learn from their mistakes.

Posted in: What is unique about the demise of Japan Inc., however, is its scale. Never before has corporate bureaucracy and mass delusion taken down an entire nation of industry-leading giants. See in context

Everyone saying things like "What about other countries?" " Other countries are worse than Japan" and etc are merely trying to dodge the issue at hand. We are not talking about other countries. Japan needs to take a serious look inward before they DO end up like the Roman Empire. I tried to mention this to an adult student of mine back when I taught English and he wasn't having any of it. He firmly believed the image of Japan having the best technology would beat countries like S. Korea so they didn't need to change....Like it or not though, Sony (for example) doesn't carry the same image as it did 20 years ago.

Thing is...Cruz isn't any better than Trump. I would equally hate either one of them becoming the republican nominee...but honestly, the Republican party didn't have many winners to begin with.

Seems like a fair choice to go with a seemingly run-of-the-mill candidate...but regardless, Obama is still president for over 6 months. The Republicans in the senate are not following the constitution. but then again, no surprise here since the POTUS on anything and everything...even if its aligned with what they want. They are just there to antagonize.

Rich blacks in America should be sending money and help to African nations to help their people rebuild. Likewise rich Muslims to Middle East countries.

Mr_Jgb

Black Americans and Africans are two different groups of people. Just because they are the same color doesn't mean they are related or have any more sense of obligation to helping Africa anymore than any other racial group.
