There is no colonial history. Both China and Korea were Colonized by Japan. The other countries only had to endure 4 years of occupation. For better or worse, the colonial branding last for several generations.

To those who HATE xmas in Japan, on account of the commercialism, let me say on word - HYPOCRIT. I the so-called WESTERN christian societies, singing carols at the mall, buying the newest toys/electronics is consumerism at its BEST. The Japanese never said they were christians, and if you are seeking CHRIST in christmas, then go to your native land, where you can find CHRIST only in a nativity scene.
