Today on 'Casual Racism Japan'. What an idiotic announcement. Japanese salarymen cannot put their brain to work after decades of slaving away mindlessly, eh?

I have noticed there are a lot of places where there are a lot of men dining alone (or in large groups) and usually there are no women in there. I guess they are scared to go inside? Once, when I was still fresh off the boat in Tokyo, I went to a curry restaurant and after eating I realized that I was the only woman inside. I felt uncomfortable. After seeing a lot of places like that I concluded that the women here avoid places where a lot of men go on purpose. Big problem. I am willing to bet that both sexes alienating each other is one the reasons for low sex/marriage/birth rates in this country.

Wow! They were telling her to act all excited in a conbini? She has been living here for 10 years! What's so exciting about a conbini? My friend, who came over this summer was awed when she stepped in my local FamiMa but it was her first time in the country. It's true that they have this misconception here in Japan, that all foreigners are loud, ignorant people who cannot speak Japanese. Even if they are long-term residents. I had friends telling me to go to an agency and get on Japanese TV because I am a blonde white person yadda yadda yadda but I am sure I would straight up quit after a week especially if they wanted me to speak broken Japanese, which I refuse to do. Might as well rip my JLPT N1 into shreds!

Horrible...Just horrible. Can rescue groups work properly with so many aftershocks hitting the area? I just saw a report on Yahoo Japan and it seems like there are grade 4 aftershocks every 10 minutes or so. Earthquakes hitting in the middle of the night are the worst. I had survived one such back at 1995 (hit at 3am and it was 7.1 M) and my mom lived through one back in the 60s. Her house collapsed while she and my uncle were sleeping and her grandmother was the one who saved them. I guess a lot of people had the same fate last night. I hope and believe everyone will get through this. Can't really do anything about earthquakes except take safety measures.

Felt it strongly here in Chiba. I figured it had to be really big near the epicenter. It's getting kinda scary. I wonder if we have something bigger coming. :S

As a newbie in Japan I didn't feel the earthquake but I got scared by the alert at the cell phones. I hope the injured recover fast.
