Posted in: Convenient but controversial: Japan's 24/7 stores See in context
A big part of the problem seems to be the lack of caution on the part of franchisers when handing out new licences. New stores appear all the time, often within throwing distance of another store. No wonder they can't sustain the 24/7 model.

They had to hit a wall eventually. The only way forward would be Minority Report style anticipated buying. We've become too impatient as a society (myself included) so we expect instant gratification. Remember when you had to order stuff from a catalog and wait six weeks?! Puts a couple of days in perspective.

I have to agree with TheRat on the small percentage of lazy types. Sadly it is those lazy types that always get my annoyed attention. I never forget the really bad students or the really good ones. Which leaves 90% of the students (who do well or OK and cause no headaches) not leaving a strong impression.

Japanese people like door knobs.
