Posted in: Hashimoto re-elected Osaka mayor; voter turnout 23.59% See in context

How about this? If most Japanese people want to show their dissatisfaction with the government by not voting, how about getting elected only when there is at least a 50% participation? (food for thought)

Posted in: Boy seriously injured after jumping from 4th floor of school building See in context

According to the school, no evidence has been confirmed regarding any bullying or physical abuse

Not saying this is the case for this boy but it is commonly the case that the schools have no evidence of bullying (off course... cause bullies will hide this from teachers). Point is to figure out a better way for schools to be aware of bullying. Ideas?

He must have so much hate to other strangers and went on a crazy on a "stomp the weak and small" extravaganza. In some cases like these is when I appreciate a bit more to come from a poorer country where people have much bigger problems so we have to team with one another.

Would be amusing if the title reads: "3 monkeys bitten by school girls in Shizuoka." :D

Laughs aside, monkeys do not attack without being threatened.

This is the best name for a group. It is precise and could not be clearer. "Korean Council for the Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery by Japan"

I wish the memo addressed the elephant in the room which is the huge bullying problem in Japan. I am certain that removing line will do absolutely nothing to improve the bullying situation. Too sad that schools decide to hide the fact by "showing action" with meaningless memos like these.

Who picks the names for these parties? They are just catchy phrases that resonate at the moment... Who's going to create the "Getting out of the economic slug and solve the pension crisis party"? That is what I would like to hear about...

Posted in: Noda says Japan must tackle debt to avoid credit rating cut See in context

Too bad "popularity" doesn't pay debts because it seems that it's all they are looking for like it would matter... they Prime Minister may resign in less than a year anyhow. If all we have to do is to pay more taxes with a very "very" specific note to reduce back the tax back once the debt is paid (notice I said "very"), then it should be fine. Unfortunately I have never seen any government doing this...
