The naive pacifist profile of Japan for more than half a century is an obsolete mentality now. Nobody wants War, for nobody wins in it., however nobody wants to be in the backseat forever and wanting to be in the same footing as anybody else is just a fair quest. I guess some countries have just pushed their luck too hard, they have created a reversed mentality for the general public of Japan. PROSPERITY and PEACE, is what should be fostered, but RESPECT comes first in order to cultivate the goodness towards it.

Actually, it comes into the picture as events unfolds to virtual possibilities, these disputed chain of islets could be the destined "home base" for the ospreys. Literally relocating MCAS Futenma together with the thousands of USMC's there thus ending the Okinawan's cry for the 2006 Road To Reallignment's realization. Could be still seen far from now to be true, but who knows, it coud be already drawn in the scrapbooks. Like the article said, "Whoever contols the gate, controls the pacific"... commercially and militarily...!

If you think that the re-elected conservative LDP, who've pretty much monopolised that period, are lefties you might need to do some basic research before your next post. But then by the sounds of it you probably believe that unless anyone's a flag-waving ultra nationalist they must be a raving lefty loony. Give me a break.
don't go around the post's question and answer it with non-sense aroggant alll know BS. Answer it straight and gimme a fkn breakkk.

Japan's nationalism is awakened after more than half a century of lefty whatever BS.

No, it's thanks to Ishihara, and the media has admitted as much. Why can't you?
The media you said? It's the media whose making all these mess! Why would you?

Most PMs or presidents are not "hardcore nationalists".
WHO?

Thomas Anderson, he may not be Ishihara but he's not that far away from him. Make no mistake, this guy's a hard core nationalist. He harbours extreme conservative views and his election will only heighten tensions in the region.
Well well well,...then name someone who is a PM or a president or what not of any country that is NOT a "hardcore nationalist"? Thanks to China, Japan's nationalism is awakened after more than half a century of lefty whatever BS. The sleeping dragon awakened by a noisy neighbor. People other than Japanese, mostly, think that it is a bad thing to see that Japan is becoming nationalistic. Well who is righteously supposed to be? It's all the same, just different terms - some call it nationalism, some ...patriotism, some...love of your own country. What is the friggin' difference?

Well IMHO these two fags should be tried here in Japan, be sentenced to 10 years with no bail and parole to "Muntinglupa" penitentiary jail in PI where they are to be forced as part of their punishment to bring all their sexy female close families and then after serving time there, send them to alcatraz next to rot forever. And you can join their fancy itinerary SErrano, so that you can prove your point here.
The Japanese jails are just so much high tech and too nice for this fags, they need something more repenting like what they have in their home country with MS13 and 18's as inmates. They will get all the rape there that they can never even dream of.

Except , of course, for all the islanders working on the bases and their families. Well, the day will come when they'll be hosting the Chinese military, maybe they'll like that better.
Hey Serrano: What exactly are you trying to point out here? What have the "islanders working on the bases and their families" have anything to do with this tread? And a Chinese military...liking them? LOL!

@seoulhyundai: OK, what positives can you explain to me. What has the government done over the last 10~20 that has had a lasting and real positive outcome for the people of Japan?
I am not negative, I just say what most people think when it comes to the incompetence and lack of measurable results / progess made by each new party or prime minister... Drastic change requires drastic measures in my opinion, otherwise they will continue to run the country from the security of their selfish comfort zone and NOTHING will change.
Oh yeah? So what do you recommend, a coup d'état? a massacre? a civil war?,..that ain't gonna happen here in Japan. People here are peace loving and literate who believes in diplomacy and righteousness vice violence and war. In the essentialities of karate, we act in the spirit of self defense and using it as an offensive arsenal is a violation of it's very own existence and belief.
The way we acted on our 3/11 crises is one very good example of how people here are. So you're asking for what now?

this whole fiasco over this mineral rich rocky islands is china's last hope in staying in where they are now in their most awaited status qou for decades, becoming the 2nd biggest ecomy and thus by GDP encompassing Japan. They have waited for this for too long that they will never take a NO from anyone or anything to take that grandeur away from them, even the stock market, they will despise that once they see it spiralling down against the yuan.
it's just so pathetic, Japan even helped them get in to their status qou, ODA or the help money, bilateral trade agreements etc. And yet they just destory it with a bottle of water to keep their pride and noses high.
they just don't get it. but mark it when it's own tribals start fighting each other waiving contradicting ideologies of democracy and communism. That will be historical and bloody. It will blow off even before an apprehended WWIII commences.
this is just the start.

Only parties win at election time. Unfortunately the people of Japan are ALWAYS the losers.. Enough is enough.
A hostile takeover and ousting (coup d'état) of these old selfish crooks is way overdue. NOTHING will change no matter which party wins. At the end of the day they are all members of the same corrupt and selfish old boys club.
Well, at least there is hope. Keeping yourself stricken with the negative sides will not make your life better, have some positive views in life and it will reflect on you.

Nothing really matters to the Japanese people of whoever wins from the five, as long as that chosen one will continue and finish his term no matter what the future challenges could be. The LDP will sweep this election, DPJ needs to seat back and watch and wait another half a century of real samurai style dignity and honor to serve the people from the chosen one.
If not, Japan will rest in peace.

Sorry to break THIS to you but all of Asia considers CHINA to be the biggest military threat. They are relying on he U.S. to counter this. The US, Australia and Japan have a strategic alliance with China in mind.India considers China a threat. If you are concerned that China may at some time start a shooting war, fine well you should be.If you are concerned that Japan, having been a completely peaceful country for 67 years is suddenly going to go back to being a military dictatorship and over run Asia, well , like I said, you're concerned about the wrong countr
very well said.
if ever china wages a war with japan, it will create a chain reaction to the most part of the world and thus threatens a WWIII,..but before even a WW breaks up, china will break itself up first and will loose it's sovereignty to it's own people who are turning against to each other. china will break just like how korea is now or at the least just like what happened to USSR.

people really needs to think more in between the lines through all of this, who wants what and why is a 3rd WW is being escalated. why is asia beginning to feel the heat of the beginning of a WWIII? who really wants what and for what reason is it is already in the headlines, people just have to read them all together and connect the dots.
there are no winners in war, only losers regardless of it's ending. people should learn to look back in history and pray that those mistakes never happens again. but then again, those that think that they have won the war, will never think that way, per se, they thought they won thw war.
japan has learned it's lesson, and paid for it and is still paying for it until these days very dearly. the world should give japan a second chance, and world peace at the same time. GOD forgives,...men should too.

this is not such a bad idea IMO. even the peace loving people of japan will agree that it's time to react right before it's too late. if neighboring countries could not get away with their bitterness over WWII even though it is well over known to the whole world that japan have paid for it for more than half a century now, and not to mention the help money (ODA) that is still being given to china by japan until now (absurd yeah I know), then IMHO japan should react now. it's TIME! those geeks will never stop until they get their assumed vengiance, not to mention nobody ever have beaten japan in battle in history except the u.s., china had it thrice with japan, all three had china beaten so badly, so just imagine how much they have in their heads to call it "let's try it one more time, probably the last.
i guess the world has only 2 choices here, just like what the "revelation" is reflecting, it is going to be a "world peace" after a 3rd WW...but what kind of peace is that going to be is the big question. peace as in everyone is friends and no wars anymore,....or just plain peace for noone is here anymore to make war at each other again.
