Posted in: Japanese citizen injured in Paris acid attack See in context

the victim has decided not to file a complaint, and in France a police investigation cannot begin until a formal complaint has been filed

Acid attacks affect women disproportionately and all too often it’s a crime that goes unreported and unpunished because victims fear reprisal. Acid attacks are notorious in certain religions and cultures.

Posted in: Suga refuses to move into official residence despite criticism See in context

It’s comical to see the comments calling ¥4 million a waste of money. Its chump change in government spending and besides, budgets are separated. It’s not like that cash would be allocated to your favorite charity. It would go to other similarly useless projects.

Posted in: Australia administers first COVID-19 vaccines despite anti-vaxxer demonstrations See in context

“Anti-vaxxer” is a misnomer. They are specifically against the rushed and coercive nature of this covid vaccine. Anti vaxxer refers to those against all vaccines. This is a distinction to be fair.

Can’t attribute all the suicides to corona shutdown but destroying a kid’s chances, in their prime, to socialize or to compete in academics, sports, music etc., can damage mental health. What’s worse is the reason for the shutdowns are questionable at best.
