I smell smoke coming off my screen. More of this, less of those AKB101dalmations.

Posted in: A global goodbye for Hikaru Utada See in context

LFRagain, the acrimony comes from this whole "retirement" publicity stunt. Why do you even need to announce a hiatus or retirement? And btw, I have heard a few of her songs. The music is bad enough. But the real problem is her voice. She's got a one octave range.

I'm more worried about the people who talk to themselves on the train.

Underage drinking is nothing new. Just need to teach them how to call it quits.

If it's a girl, no problem. If it's a dude, big, big, big problem.

The internet beats us. And New York City beats all others in terms of, well, everything.

I was hooked as a kid watching the cartoon. I might endure the "acting" of Kim Taku to see this version (or not).

Anytime a disaster happens in China or India, a lot of people get taken out. Still, hate to see this happen anywhere.

Sounds like a great idea. Just goes to show that not every service has to be stiff. Speaking of stiff...

Posted in: Hikaru Utada advises fans not to buy her album See in context

mrskit, she is a good singer? Surely you jest (and I am calling you "surely"). By what standards is she any good? Her vocal range? Her attempts at sounding soulful?

Don't buy her album, she asks? Wow, that's a load off my mind.

Posted in: Why are girl bands and glamour groups like AKB48, SKE48, Morning Musume and Miniskirt Police so popular in Japan? See in context

Because they are the cutest things, like, ever. They're as cute as Hello Kitty, just not as intelligent.

Problem is more of a lack of variety. Every restaurant serves the same things. Italian - pizza margherita, spaghetti bolognese. Thai - tom yum kun, pad thai. They imitate well, but there's nothing bold in their dishes.

I read an article recently about how to train kids to deal with pedophiles. Basically, parents need to rehears the situation with their kids on what to say and do. It may seem cruel exposing too much of the real world to them, but it makes sense if you want to make sure they don't come close to falling victim to freakoids like this.

What was the name of that bar in Roppongi where these thugs walked around making sure you were holding a drink? Is that still around?

You also have these weird places that serve raw fish on rice with some kind of spicy green horseradish thingy.
