@Jeff Huffman

Both Vietnam and China are communist states.

Yes, China and Vietnam's economies are based on State Capitalism economic model - but that change the fact

that both countries are ruled by a single party that use Marxist ideology as a guiding principle to govern.

@Kenny76 @LeChatBotte

While I share your optimism for a free/democratic Vietnam in the future, I disagree with your assessment on the current state of Vietnam. According to the 2014 Index of Economic Freedom published by The Heritage Foundation

Vietnam is ranked 147 behind China at 137.

@OssanAmerica

No not really. The problem is not whether a country is "communist" or not.

It's a matter of semantics, Red Russia & Red China - meant communism during the 80's. Still, I do share your view that China and Vietnam should should resolve this dispute diplomatically and in accordance to the rule of law.

@WilliB

Not in THEIR eyes, no. It depends on the perspective. And unless we understand the underlying ideology, we can never address the problem.

Frankly speaking, I could care less about their "ideology" or "perspective."

Kidnapping and trafficking little girls for the purposes making a political statement, or selling them in to slavery is just too outrageous and senseless.

These monsters are not human - but filthy animals.

Regarding the picture for the article -

The woman in the white dress is holding up a sign that reads "STOP RED CHINA BULLYING IN VIET NAM SEAS."

Does anybody else find that statement ironic considering that Vietnam is also a communist nation?

Just saying.....

Between my wife and I, we have all three types of phone, the following is just my humble opinion.

Windows Phone - Pros: Super easy to use and navigate. The "Live Tiles" features are pretty cool Cons: App availability is lacking compared to the Apple and Android.

Android - Pros: Widgets. Able to personalize/customize the layout and the phone. Many brands and price points. Cons: Widgets. Android users' experiences will differ depending on the hardware and brand of the phone

Apple iphone - Pros: Status symbol Cons: Status symbol

The brunt of Japanese Imperial Army aggression, which killed 20 million - 30 million Asians, sexually enslaved 200,000 girls, forced millions into slave labor, were mainly felt by China and Korea.

Posted in: Abe, Merkel say G7 won't waver on further Russian sanctions See in context

PUTIN is using RUSSIAN ENERGY as a means of discouraging EU leaders on imposing tougher sanctions.

The North Americans, especially Canada, is building up their energy capacity.

I say, impose sanctions on Russian energy & banking and create a FRAMEWORK TO EFFICIENTLY INCREASE ENERGY IMPORTS FROM THE NORTH AMERICANS and INVEST IN GREEN ENERGY.

The Russian Economy will fall and the RUBLE WILL BE TOILET PAPER.

NON-Americans criticizing the lack of US Military power is a joke!

After a decade of war zones, American GI's are coming back home wounded, both physically and mentally. It's time to bring the GIs home.

Even after the war is over, the American Taxpayer are left with bill of executing the war and rebuilding the war torn areas. Obama is right to be prudent with the use of American military.

With regards to Ukraine, blame the European! Everybody knows the Russian energy exports is their bread basket. But the EU is gun shy about imposing sanctions on the Russian energy sector. Don't blame the Americans for the feeble European reaction.

Bieber is NOT A US CITIZEN nor does he hold Permanent Resident status in the US - but only hold a VISA.

On Bieber's flight back to the US, I hope that the TSA doesn't LET HIM PASS CUSTOMS AND TOUCH US SOIL until he clear up his drug, racing, and assault charges.

If he is convicted on any of the charges, the homeland security should NEVER allow him to enter the US.

CH3CHO

I can assure you that there is absolutely no racial tension between Japanese Americans & Korean Americans. In fact the Asian American community as a whole gets along extremely well. As the article mentioned, inter ethnic relationships/marriages among Asian Americans are very common.

It's my understanding that most Japanese Americans, especially in Asian American enclaves in Southern California, bay area, & the tri state know the history of comfort women and sympathize with their plight.

I feel bad for the tourist and her family. The event must have been traumatizing.

I hope they understand the aggressive actions of the Hwy Patrol officers.

The officers probably assumed that the driver was drunk or in the process of a crime as she was driving erratically at 1 am.

I hope that rest of her family trip is stress free.

Flashing lights in my rear view mirror, and if in doubt, to put the pedal to the floor and get to the nearest law enforcement station

When driving in the US, I would seriously recommend that you pull over when you see flashing lights in your rear view mirror.

If in doubt I recommend you SLOW DOWN AND PUT ON YOUR HAZARD LIGHTS and drive to a well-lite area like a gas station.

Putting "the pedal to the floor" when flashing lights are behind you is NOT a good idea.
