Border areas cannot be left to cope with all migrants, and they should not be dumped at politically opportune sites.

Then liberals should not have allowed the borders to be open and to allow these people to come in.

If a nation can put people on the moon, it should be able to share the costs and benefits of migrants fairly nationwide.

Apples to Oranges comparison, we longed to go to the moon, we didn’t long or ask for a massive influx of illegals.

And given that so much technology was created in the US, I'm sure they could knock together a system to work it.

Massive roundup system

The United States is one nation - start acting like it.

The U.S. and not the illegal world nation.

Abbot is a real jerk.

I think he’s a hero.

As you have said I'm sure, Americans cannot identify Ukraine on a map,

SOME Americans…

so they should be leaving it to people that should know better, their representatives and president.

Not when they lost all credibility and especially having to deal with an administration that is completely incoherent to the wishes of millions of Americans.

You forgot saving a USA military from certain defeat to a cease fire in NK. Without the Aussie warrior saving the USA military from themselves and from the old senile Generals and their inadequate planing. Someone has to overcome the USA military poor strategies and save their rear end. Like it a certain you have ask the Aussie for help. With the USA planing all the stupid geopolitical move that you have to rely on other better preforming Militaries to save yourself from yourselves. Ukraine brilliant move, Gaza brilliant move. I say point proven.

Surprisingly, they love a lot of our equipment since it’s top-notch. Definitely not made in China and won’t break.

Evidently, a guy like that has no business being in the classroom teaching anyone. If you like kids it can be a good for some, if you hate kids and just working to clock a check it is the wrong profession for you, don’t waste your time and the kids.

Here is a woman who was once a decent celeb, enjoyed the glam fame in the late 60s, 70s and a brief resurgence music career in the early 90s and disappeared for a number of years and came out of imposed retirement to bash conservatives, making fun of them and mocking them, and now, the woman is showing rapid signs of decline herself. Kind of sad actually, it all can have a serious boomerang effect.

Yay, a twice impeached convicted rapist who is also a pathological liar, a climate change denier, a man who suggested injecting bleach as a cure for COVID,

Think about that, even with all of these fruitless allegations, personal attacks and selected hit pieces, his popularity didn’t falter.

and a racist to boot.

Not even close.

What’s not to love?!

Hmmm…

If Japan continues to follow the US, it will be involved in a proxy war against China

That has nothing to do with the U.S. in the sense that Taiwan is a sovereign nation and the US and Japan will uphold that sovereignty. So it’s up to China what it wants to do.

and will end up destroyed just like Ukraine.

Probably.

There is no need for Japan to fight against China,

If China doesn’t invade Taiwan, then no need for concern about a Pacific conflict.

that will only profit the US elite.

On both sides.

Posted in: With eye on 'if Trump wins' scenario, Japan weighs committing to its own defense See in context

No thanks, Japan should think about its own defense and strengthen relations that benefit Japan, rather than following the current downward path dictated by the US.

If Japan were to stop following the U.S. that would benefit China and Japan alone is no match for China, it definitely needs America

If Trump wins, which I doubt

That’s the lefts and establishment endeavors.

unless my vain hope that G-Joe may be absent, away in the Hague, happens - lol!) he'll have another "first" - the first Potus to serve from a prison suite,

That won’t happen.

or more likely, from White House Arrest.

Not in a Million years

He may even get a day release to attend his inauguration. Would be wild! That's a fantastical future scenario, but the Japanese government folks must be having nightmares about a rerun of Trump's reality show.

Yeah, that would make for a good NBC televised 2 season drama.

trump was an embarrassment who was literally laughed at by world leaders.

Yeah, but they didn’t laugh in his face and what made him resonate so much was he wasn’t a globalist. All the more reasons his popularity continues to soar.

We did not have peace during his term in office and our reputation as severely damaged.

Name me one war that he had under Trump. What chaos geopolitically did we have during his administration?

He had zero accomplishments

280 to be exact. Documented, indisputable and irrefutable.

except for negotiating with terrorists and ballooning our debt.

And look what Biden is doing and 2024 just started…

Only the uneducated, bigots, and xenophobes support trump.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/poll-17-of-black-americans-support-donald-trump-up-9-points-from-2020/ar-AA1ltjgU

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/hispanic-support-trump-raises-red-flag-biden-2023-12-16/

A lot of bigots

He is not popular with our military.

Beg to differ

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jun/30/us-afghanistan-war-military-pullout-report-biden-trump

America fired him and he tried to overthrow our democracy.

No, he didn’t, if he did, he would have been in prison, that’s why he wasn’t charged, for the riot.

Now he's facing multiple state and federal indictments. Americans will not suffer him again.

So judging by the polls, it seems they are deciding who they are suffering under.

That said, Japan should invest heavily in its own military. Japan can absolutely have a strong military and still be one of the beautiful, peaceful people on the planet. Russia and China fear a strong Japan.

It can, but definitely not with the combined help of the United States, we know it, they know it.

Yeah, that doesn't mean you keep your enemies in the oval office with you,

So that explains Dems running for the hills from Biden…

and Trump has never demonstrated self control beyond five seconds,

Good?

which is what a smart foreign policy would require.

You mean, to be controlled by his staff, hate to tell you this, but no one elected them to anything.

Why? Trump will complete the US surrender in Ukraine, fully demonstrating he and his supporters have no staying power.

That’s fine by me.

Trump is facing 91 criminal charges. They include 44 federal charges and 47 state charges, all of them felonies

We know, we all know already, the media pushes this every single day and throughout the day.

If Trump is able to run he will win and there will be chaos at home and abroad. In addition to bolstering defenses Japan should also reengage earnestly with China as the two nations are neighbors and the two regional powers.

I agree.

And the idiot who insulted the student should be deported. He is an embarrassment to all foreigners living in Japan. The English language curriculum is an embarrassment to Japan.

I agree, but that’s the problem of the BOE to sort out and fix and we can go on all day about the problems they have and the unwillingness to change a lot of these practices, but having said that, a teacher should never, ever make any student feel bad. There is just no excuse for that.

Posted in: Foreign English teacher in Japan calls student’s ability garbage; says it was an 'American joke' See in context

Although the teacher was probably correct in his observation he shouldn't ridicule the students for any reason. "If you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all."

Exactly, and many Japanese already have a lack of confidence and often and unwillingness to learn English, ridiculing them with that already fragile feeling will just discourage them. If you want to make a difference show that you care and show that you’re interested and invested in helping them learn. If you show these student you care, that’s a huge motivator

Forget what the Taiwanese say not to mention the coalition of democratic Asian nations that don’t want to be next on the oath of China’s “peaceful rise”.

Nope. That’s no going to happen.

We shall see. But as of now, the U.S. military is sadly not in the best shape and has seen better days, if this administration doesn’t make China its number one priority and increases the military budget to buildup and properly train our forces, increase recruitment and quickly modernize our military we might not win, we are rapidly falling behind, so if China is going to do this, it’s very possible he would try it this year.

One of the biggest problems facing the world today, both in the developed and developing world is the fanatic assertion of religious belief, whether in the Islamic World or in the US of populist-supporting Christian Nationalist networks.

Well, you might see it as a problem, but people of faith might not agree with you, you cannot make any judgements on how or what a person should believe in. I think the less we have personal and aggressive intrusions on other peoples lives, the better we will all be.

They will tirelessly assert their tiresome litany of beliefs as "truths" in the face of all countervailing evidence and even logic.

Tirelessly as the people that push their non-religious POV onto them.

There is too much of this we can see today and 2024 does not look good.

Depends on who you are talking to.

A characteristically crass and tasteless attempt at "humor.

Nothing crass about it. Not trying to be funny, just stating the truth, they do in large part receive aid from various groups in his organization, is that a bad thing or a crime? Why is it that liberals drone on about AIPAC, will condemn it all day long, but when you mention Soros, it’s somehow agitating the left to the point where they just forbid conservatives to utter his name, why is that?

Israel has become the devil.

Yes, after 10/7 Israel has now become Hamas’s worst nightmare.

They are an unhinged overlord who are proving themselves absolutely unfit to show any humanity to others.

That’s how millions of us feel about Hamas

How long does the world just sit around and watch them kill though?

You think after we were attacked on 9/11 we as a sovereign nation would allow any nation to tell us whether we are allowed to take retribution or not?

The world seems paralysed by this because it's the US backed Jews doing the mass killing. Nobody knows what to do.

Ahh, it’s the evil Jews fault now is it?

Mad disgrace.

That kind of thinking really is.

In the West undocumented migrants are treated this way by exploitative employers for fear of their immigration status being reveled.

Especially most of them being illegal, expect that to happen.

In Japan Inc. it is business as usual and the authorities are supporting the exploitative employers.

This is bad because everyone comes in legally, follows all the rules, and then gets abused and exploited.

Exactly !

Well, different.

In fact probably a detriment to USA national security to provide weapons to Israel for their genocidal extermination agenda

No, without Israel we have no eyes or ears on the ground in the ME, Biden already alienated the Saudis, screwed up Afghanistan and now we should screw Israel? That would be the biggest and worst national security threat ever were that to happen.

USA is too involved in world conflicts

On that part I will agree with you on that.
