Yeah... this guy must have pissed off his girlfriend or.... the girl's real boyfriend or maybe he did something even worse!!. Bad stuff!! I feel bad for him cause that's worst than being hung, but until we know what happened he's just another "victim" to me.

Hurry up, we have to re-construct, no matter where the materials come from.. there's deadlines to be met and money to be made!! What a shame!! What about the poor families living in the condos?? They spent their life savings to buy a contaminated building... they need to go get checked out... especiall for the children!!! Obviously that whole building will have to be torn down.

Security should have caught this at the checkpoint.Obviously it was an accident but you can imagine if some devious mind would have set a fire in a lavatory? Modern aircraft interior materials, wiring, all the plastic polymers , although supposedly "fire retardant" go up like kindling in a fireplace, it burns down quick!! Swiss Air 111 went down due to a fire very quickly. They're lucky to put the fire out and make it back safely. Good job by the crew reacting qucikly and safely.

Posted in: Noda says no decision yet on reducing Iran oil imports See in context

Japan is caught in an unfavourable position... does it placate it's ally (the US) and somehow try not to look like the the US puppy dog... or really take a deep look and decide what is best for her economically? I said this before.. will the US supply Japan with 10% of it's oil needs?? especially at the same price Iran offers it? I think not! It is high time for Japan to start weaning itself from the US... it has China right next door and can get favourable energy deals from Russia. These are geopolitical partners with whom Japan should be doing businness ... not a foreign power who has been occupying the Japanese islands for over 60 years and the bottom line is, the US will care for itself above all others. Japan, please be your own nation!!! Don't be the laughing stock of EastAsia by seliing out your sovereignty. Make your own decisions that will benefit the people of Japan.

Posted in: Gemba views disputed island off Hokkaido from Coast Guard vessel See in context

Why are they wating the Japanese taxpayer's money like this?? To see some islands and keep dreaming about it?? Maybe they were eating Russian crab whilst they toured?? What a waste. The best Japan can hope for is to make a deal and co-develop the islands with Russia and maybe get an energy side deal.

It is so frustrating and embarrasing to see Japan always bow to Uncle Sam on pretty much anything the US wants them to do. It's like an owner talking to his puppy dog, "sit boy... there you go, good boy!!" When will the J-government and really, the male population of Japan grow a spine and finally do what is better for Japan and not what its American master tells it. Is the USA going to guarantee 10% of Japan's oil??? I doubt it! It's because of this type of policy blundering that no power in the world takes Japan seriously.... what a waste!! Shameful!!!

Posted in: Syria police tear gas thousands in Homs as observers deploy See in context

There has to be a peaceful resolution to this. An atmosphere must be implemented where both sides, the opposition and government, can meet and iron out their differences in a logical and non-destructive manner, with the well being of the Syrian people as the top priority. Unfortunately it appears the opposition is being supported covertly by outside governments who wish to remove the Assad administration using the guise of human rights/safety violations...just like in Lybia. The whole thing is being well played out by the media who apparently only know of violations by the Assad regime... but have no eyes and ears to the damage being caused by the opposition. really, Assad might as well just leave while he's still alive and go chill out somewhere. Let the opposition figure this out and let the country get ambroiled in civil war, destabalizing the region even more and then have the NATO forces set up bases in it. This whole "Arab Spring" has been planned by the West for it's gains only. It's only part of the big puzzle. The real goal is Iran and then the clear path to the riches of Central Asia, at Russia's and China's doorstep.

Posted in: Japan eases self-imposed arms export ban See in context

Well, might as well start using your high-tech knowhow and sell weapons like just about everybody else is...USA, Europe, Russia, China, etc, This should boost innovation and start up the factories again. The result would be many billions of Yen boosting the industrial base in Japan, thereby helping Japan Inc. get out of this economic quagmire they're in. It's too bad they had to resort to this in the end...

Posted in: U.S. Treasury criticizes Japan yen intervention See in context

Not an economics expert by far, but it seems the Yen is very low right now, in turn harming the producers and exporters, as the high Yen makes Japanese products more expensive abroad. In the current global economic environment the vast majority of people don't have the luxury of choosing between Hyundai or Honda or Sharp vs LG anymore. When all the export earnings are repatriated Japan Inc. is losing billions because of the strong Yen. Now, I also do see that Japan must do something to invigorate domestic consumption... is it possible that the home market is already flooded .... that the Japanese people don't need to buy high end products because they already have them? If so.. then what is the solution?

Posted in: Japan arrests another Chinese fishing boat skipper See in context

The more strict Japan becomes when protecting their waters, then hopefully the Chinese fishing skippers will get the message. They should be fined to the fullest extent of the law to deter any others, although , surely they can't catch all of them. Could it be possible some of these boats are carrying sensors for the PLA Navy? I'm sure this is all part of the great "chess" game. Ganbare Japan! Protect your interest in your part of the swimming pool.

Posted in: Tens of thousands of protesters challenge Putin See in context

This a great episode in Russian history and it has happened before... back in 1917 and even before then, when many thousands rose up and protested against the Czars. Now, it is Putin... and I really don't think he is a schoolboy when it comes to politics and the running of Russia. Yes, there are thousands who oppose him, but the majority still supported United Russia and will probably vote for Putin in March. What we are seeing here are the new freedoms brought about by Mevdevev, who recognized the political reform was necessary in order to rid the country of corruption and improve every aspect of the state and society in general.. Putin didn't become the West's puppet like Yeltsin did, he stood firm and rebuilt the country into what it is today...because he knew the real stratagem is US dominance of even Russia itself. Russia is and will always be Russian and nobody will ever dictate to them how to run their country. How would you like it if a foreign government was trying to influence the elections in the US? What about all the people in the US getting arrested in the OWS protests, getting beat up by police, tear gassed, a few ended up killed by the "authorities" ..... do I see role reversals being played out here?? My hats off to the "new" Russian democracy. The bear has awakened.

Afghanistan is another we should leave alone... I've been there, in both countries... boots on the ground, had my share of rough spots. We don't belong there and we can't re-educate them to suit our needs. Now we want to tangle with Iran,,, I think somebody who wears a star has already drawn the line.... we have reached the limtis of our escapades... we're on the bear's borders now....and the bear has awakened.

Posted in: China, Japan unveil deals to tighten financial links See in context

This is a good move on the part of Japan, it's time for it to wean itself from the US. China is becoming stronger and cut similar deals with Russia and others... the demise of the dollar is inevitable as it is becoming unpopular due to Washington's hegemonic world dominance policy. If you act like a bully, you will run out of friends eventually. East Asia and BRICS are growing and the Western powers ;ie.(big banks) will not go down without a fight though... already lining up the troops for Syria and next Iran... please God help us, something big is coming.

Posted in: Anti-whaling activists use drone to track Japan fleet See in context

The Japanese whalers are acting within the structure of international law and operating in international waters, whereas the Sea Shepherd is acting like "pirates" in this case. They are harassing a legally protected vessel and now they're introducing high-tech drones... ala Predators. Just great!! The Whale Wars have started because I don't see Japan backing off on this one and the crazy Sea Sheppherd activists will do something drastic (putting human lives in danger) to save a couple of whales!! Why don't they go "activate" in Libya.... what a farce that was. If the Japanese want to eat whales, then let them!! I heard it's not that good actually!!! Certainly not delicious Oma maguro!!

Posted in: Genkai No. 4 reactor shut down; only 6 reactors now operating in Japan See in context

All the reactors need to be inspected to assure safe operating conditions, but maybe they should keep more than 6 running. Once they're all inspected they can be re-started as Japan needs them to feed it's massive electrical needs. Japan is the size of California but has 3.5x the population and much larger/developed industrial output... it's the 3rd largest economy in the world... gotta have big power to feed this machine and keep it running!

I agree, Mao-chyan is one of the more graceful and technically advanced female skaters... a true pleasure to behold and I would say she is the right person to lead the team, that is, if she can handle the pressure. Remember she couldn't go toe-to-toe with Kim-Yona... she totally fell apart at the Olympics while Kim just kept on cruising. It's too bad Kim decided to go Pro, but then again she had already destroyed the competition. Best wishes to Mao-chyan!

Posted in: Japanese automakers top Consumer Reports rankings See in context

Let us hope the spirit of innovation and quality remain intact in the Japanese automakers' ideals, as it is a big part of Japan's incredible rise after the World War 2 and also helps this tiny country stay alive as the world's third largest economy! I have owned Japanese vehicles ever since my first Honda Civic Si back in 84' and up to my 2007 Toyota Wish. Bang for the buck quality!! Ganbare Nippon!!

Alas! The spirit of innovation is alive and well in Japan! It is the only thing keeping this country afloat. Can you imgagine if the politicians at Clowns Inc. in Tokyo were able to have effective government? Japan would indeed be a force to reckon with instead of being a laughing stock. I've ridden the TGV in France and it doesn't even come close to Shinkansen. The Koreans and Chinese have copied the technology and have nice systems of their own... but the level of quality and innovation of Shinkansen is unmatched!!

Posted in: Japan excavating site linked to WWII human experiments by Unit 731 See in context

This is one of the issues where the average Japanese turns their head and give you the " what?.. I didn't know that happened... it's not possible." The J-govenrment hushed this and a lot of other atrocities form the mass population. The vast majority of Japanese still don't admit of the crimes in Korea and China and other places, to include Okinawa. This denial, which is an outright lie is part of the problem of modern Japan. They still think they can do no wrong.... and the result is a society that isn't ready to accept the reality of the world outside Japan. This country will go down from within, unless the Clowns Inc. takes drastic steps to re-educate the youth of this country... or will they try to keep the Gaijins down to a minimum? It is the only industrialized country I know of where a foreigner is blatantly called a "Gaijin". Japan has come far, but it has a long way to go!!!

I recently flew ANA into Haneda from LAX. Not having to get on the limousine bus was nice! But I still had to wait 3 hours for my flight out of Haneda. Oh, well, it's not perfect but it's progress!! Great new terminal!! As far as OneWorld being the premier airline alliance I disagree. If you look at the Star Alliance's member airlines you see a big difference in terms of "quality service", although OneWorld isn't far behind. Skyteam, well, they're trying!!

Posted in: Russian FM talks tough to Maehara on dispute with Japan See in context

I'm by no means a Japan basher as I've lived here the last 16 years and have a Japanese family. On the issue, I seem to recall some time ago, a few years ago Russia was willing to give back two of the islands and invited Japan to develop/share a trade zone where both would benefit am I correct? Japan rejected the idea then and that was the last time the Russians brought it up! Now Japan's perennially disfunctional government is demending the return of all the islands, I think not! Unfortunately these poor J-guys are the political laughing stock of Asia and Russia knows this. Thus "there's no point" in further talks if Japan doesn't soften its stance on the issue. I still think Russia should play nice and give two islands back and they both can develop the area because big boy China is right around the corner!
