Tie this in with the old-boy-rulings of one particular city office in the news yesterday, barring women from wearing jewelry at work as well as enforcing dress codes for both men and women, and it's plain to see that nothing has changed in Japan over the last several decades.

As long as there are old men stuck in their ways allowed to preside over societal standards, nothing will change for women, foreigners or anyone who wants to make a difference.

Rising taxes, low wages, rising living costs - having a baby these days in Japan is not an affordable luxury! Thankfully my 3 year old and 2 year old are off formula and starting to use the potty more. The cost of diapers going up, formula going up, baby food, clothing, shoes, etc.... people can barely afford to live as a single person, never mind as a married couple!

I had the unfortunate encounter with this guy in Kudamatsu, Yamaguchi, in the same year.

He didn't like that I overtook him, and proceeded to stop his car several times in front of mine and others on National Route 2. He drove with his door open, screaming obscenities at me and other drivers.

He was reported by some other road users and apprehended in Tokuyama but clearly he was not detained. I hope upon his eventual release, he's never allowed to drive ever again.

For the lives his actions took and the resulting loss of parents to two girls, his sentence is not long enough.

Terrible advice, ivermecting and other drugs bring no benefit to people infected and instead increase the risk of other health problems, recommending people to act against the best medical advice just so you can pretend vaccines are not necessary only puts those people at risk, something that you are not taking any responsibility about.

My wife and I had covid this month, no vaccines, and our doctor was happy to recommend ivermectin. We opted for traditional flu medication, simply because it was a much cheaper alternative.

My kids are1 & 2 years old.

Been here since 1999, things that have gotten better:

More choice of deodorants available - there were literally none for men back then.

Better housing quality - a lot more western style housing compared to the old Japanese styles.

More job opportunities for foreigners, albeit with an air of inequality.

Less smokers around meaning me and my kids are not breathing in second hand smoke.

Things that have gotten worse:

Salaries - remained stagnant for the most part - while inflation and taxes have risen, salaries have not.

Price rises, everything got a lot more expensive.

Vaccine mandates and restrictions save lives.
