Except for those medicaly challenged, self control would be a game changer .

Posted in: Some remain skeptical as Japan set to roll out vaccines on Wednesday See in context

Medical experts say that around 80 percent of the population must have immunity against COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the coronavirus, through vaccinations or previous infections to reach herd immunity and start turning the tide against the virus.

But we already know from EXPERTS that the vaccine doesn't prevent infection or spread, so how is this relevant .

While people are saying "get those tax evaders", I hope it is realized that they are not necessarily evading any tax laws, and furthermore that the J Gov wants to get their tax claws into your personal OS assets for at least five years after you have left the country. So I don't know that it is a wise thing to get excited about these controls they are implementing and thinking that you will see anything other than your hard work being taxed twice. But some of us already know how it ends.

300,000 yen for those who fail to participate in epidemiological surveys by health authorities.

Refusing to participate in a study under .......... conditions? I suspect there are wider ranging implications to these laws proposed than just than getting data from those affected.

This island country has no boating life because only the very very rich can get one of the far and few slots, and the coastal areas are controlled by the fisherman coops. Shameful.

Not entirely true. You can rent power boats through the Yamaha Sea Style member system and they look to be nice boats, and though kind of expensivish, its nothing like the cost of personal boat ownership. Agree that Japan has a different culture to western countries on boating though.

Lowest unemployment, great GDP...

...I think he was one of the best based on these facts.

Those aren't the only facts people are basing their opinions on though, are they.

Could you expand on the facts (like measurable criteria) that make the current and pre-Trump admins' policies that make for a good administration to do what a Govt is supossed to do?

Lowest unemployment, great GDP, booming stock market, focus on secure borders, freedom of religion, didn't pay taxpayers money in cash to terorist nations or into unfair climate change arrangements, and lowered the national debt, and helped make peace in the middle east, but despite these facts people all say he was the worst president. I think he was one of the best based on these facts.

A unarmed white female protester was killed by the police.

I saw the actual video, and undoubtedly unwarranted force was used (point blank by the white house cop).

I have no sympathy for the insurrectionist.

"No sympathy" for any one killed no matter what you think is just plain evil thinking.

Posted in: Vaccine mistrust in Japan dates back decades See in context

Is it any wonder people are sceptical, the drug dealers have not been honest with people all the time. Factor VIII scandal, known quantities of asbestos in baby powder just to name a few, have not been good for confidence. Add to that that the COVID vaccine does not actually protect against getting it and you still need to social distance and wear a mask, and if its an mRNA vaccine, to this date, however hard they have tried there has not been a particularly useful one developed, and rushed trials and approvals. On top of it all there is now a new strain and although vaccines have always been changed to meet the new strains in the past, some how this vaccine will "probably" protect you from the new strain "experts say". It would be nice if it were more sure thing like HEP B vaccines.

Posted in: Trump urges healing and pledges smooth transition of power See in context

Trump released the video following growing calls for his removal after his fired-up supporters breached the Capitol Wednesday and sent lawmakers scrambling for safety.

Except FB and Twitter deleted it.

Egged on by an aggrieved Trump speech, a flag-waving mob broke though barricades and swarmed inside the Capitol, ransacking offices and entering the usually solemn legislative floors.

And not mentioning the thousands of peaceful protestors who turned up and did not feel "Egged on by an aggrieved Trump".

A lot of inconvenient truths missing from the news.

At least now the news can correctly report the term "Joe Bidden President-elect"

Take the vaccine and your life isnt endangered by those who don't so why should those who don't want it be forced to do so.

At will employee. You are free to find another job. No, you are not free to endanger your co-workers and customers

If your coworkers take it and you don't, how can those who took it be endangered by those who don't if the vaccine works.

So the only ones at risk in this scenario are those who accepted that risk.

Still not sure letting him off easy was right or not, especialy later when he truthed up and said he actualy fell asleep in the tunnel and his family already said he was too old to drive.
