Correction - Tsushima is off of Northern Kyushu, not South. Source - I used to live there

Sounds like a savvy move to beat potential disruption from others providing similar services, and in such a tight market, a good way to get a leg up on competitors like Peach air.

Surprised that there is no mention here of Billy Mills' historic win at the 10,000 meters, last time an American ever did (Galen Rupp was close, second in London)

I would be more impressed if they fast-tracked something more imperative, like education reform, or buckets to catch all the water that's leaking outta Fukushima.

I think it would be fairly easy to rustle up a poll saying that 1/3 of men who want a wife also don't want to have to hold down a job as the family breadwinner......this isn't particularly scientific.

What I don't understand is what people can't simply be honest about these kinds of things. Why can't the commissioner of Japanese Baseball say "Look folks, ticket sales have been slumping lately, and we're really looking for an edge wherever we can, so we decided to make it more exciting by making super-bouncy baseballs."

And then Mizuno can say "Look, we're really greedy, and we want to screw our competitors by agreeing to a contract where we are the only ones who can make Bouncy Balls. Because man, I mean just look at us. Our balls are so....bouncy!"

Posted in: 11,000 displaced residents yet to ask TEPCO for compensation See in context

While this figure represents less than 10% of the total, 11,000 is still quite a high number. My guess would be that a large number of these people are some combination of quite elderly and/or living alone. These people are the most likely to be out of the loop and unlikely to be making informed decisions independently. From TEPCOs perspective, I wouldn't be trying very hard to find them.
