the child's parents are equally to blame for this incident. what knuckleheads would leave their two-year old child unattended? baaaka!

i wonder which would have been better, this kid suffering years and years of physical and mental abuse, being scarred forever by his idiotic mom and her pathetic boyfriend, or dying now. as horrific as it may seem, this kid may be better off.

its crimes like these that i wish the death penalty were in effect.

Posted in: What do you think about all the panic buying of bottled water in Tokyo after reports that radioactive iodine exceeding the limit for infants was found in tap water in some wards? See in context

Badge123: you are a bit misleading when you quote the 3000 Bq/l figure. the WHO recommends only 10 Bq/l for drinking water. the 3000 Bq/l statistic is for the IAEA intervention level for a NUCLEAR EMERGENCY. so even the current levels of 79 Bq/l are higher than the WHO recommended level.

btw, the japanese figure of 300 Bq/l is used only during emergency situations. please check out the WHO website under FAQs: Japan nuclear concerns for more info. jump to page nine for info regarding water safety.

when the 3.11 earthquake hit, i thought the panick buying was totally stupid (i.e. bread and water), but now that the water has been irradiated some of the panicking is justified. it's really starting to freak people out.

i totally agree with thepro. it isn't that hard to put together a message about where and how people can help. just add that "amazing grace" jingle to it and boom, a winner!

smartacus

i never said she came to japan to be a model. i said because she doesn't have "model" looks, she came to japan. she really isn't that pretty and limited in her ability to sing. the only place where you can make money with those attributes is in japan where the "tarento" reign supreme.

me thinks her acting career will be on the short side.

the only reason why any american "model" would come to japan is because they really aren't that pretty or have no talent. and leah dizon fits both of those categories.

@combinibento I totally agree! Delta uses the oldest airplane from NRT to SFO. I felt like I was on some 3rd world airplane. Retire that ragged 747 and upgrade to a A380 baby!

Posted in: 70,000 commuters delayed by quarrel over cell phone on train in Chiba See in context

Japanese people have some of the poorest mobile phone usage manners in the world.

What?!?! Are you kidding me? I just got back from Seoul and HK and in both of those cities everyone and their mom is talking on the cell phones on trains. In the States it's even worse. You can hear everyone's cell phone ring, and they talk on it everywhere, while eating, at sporting events, etc.

Personally, I think Japanese people are the MOST polite with their phones. I don't mind the occasional person talking on their phones on a train. I think some people go overboard and act like the manner police when they see it happen.

finally they will give us in cattle class personal, in-seat entertainment! delta's planes flying to the US right now don't have this, and it's an extremely boring 11 hour flight without it.

she was bleeding from the face? the report said she was stabbed in the back.

but obviously the perpetrator was only seeking attention because no one would seriously try to kill someone with a fruit knife. let's hope she gets some psychiatric care.

is it me or do a lot of murderers dismember the victims' bodies in japan? you always hear of a head or torso or limbs being found in japan. does any other country do this to such an extent?

Moderator: Readers, references to crimes in other countries are not relevant to this discussion.
