It is in 1957, prostitution was banned in Japan by law.

Must be why there are no soaplands or delivery health business in Japan these days.

The one thing this Nissan farce showed the world was that foreigners should think deeply before taking up any executive roles to be based in Japanese companies especially in Japan.

Th Olympus scandal with Michael Woodford did more in that regard.

The only person from work whose calls I answer on the weekend are those of my company’s CEO, and that’s only because 99.9% of the time he is inviting me out for expensive dinner and drinks.

There is no such thing.

Absolutely there is. Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, or nitrogen will all put any mammal to sleep, and you'll never wake up.

Cats can live up to 20 years, they aren't necessarily breeding.

LOL. No, I'm sure they're being very good and resisting their natural urges, and/or using contraception when they do!

I would never dream of getting married and having kids in Japan unless I earned a steady 10 million yen per year, in a job not likely to ever disappear, like a doctor. Which is why I will never marry or have kids!

After all the new women were appointed, I think we can assume they are being set up to fail....i.e. the decision not to hold the Olympics has already been taken by the powers that be.

"How did Ghosn - arguably the most watched and well known face in Japan at the time - travel from his Tokyo apartment to Osaka airport on public transport including the shinkansen, without being noticed at all?"

With a mask and a hat, maybe glasses too. It's very easy to go unnoticed in Japan. Plus most Japanese people are not very observant of their surroundings at the best of times.

First off, shame on the US for agreeing to this. If the shoe were on the other foot, Japan would never play ball.

What awaits them? Hours of questioning each day without a lawyer present. Even with a lawyer present, not much changes, seeing as how lawyers here are in the pocket of the police and prosecutor anyways.

Japan doesn't have a modern, functioning legal justice system.

Is it super-refined, overly sweet, devoid-of-any-nutrients white bread? The Japanese will love it!

Posted in: JAL to slash hiring of new graduates by 90% in 2022 See in context

while it will maintain employment of candidates for pilots and people with disabilities.

This is purely PR and cost-cutting by shady means; PR, because people will say how nice it is that a big company like JAL is hiring people with disabilities. Shady cost-cutting, because no company in Japan pays people with a disability good wages, plus they get subsidies from the government depending on the number of people with disabilities they employ.
