Posted in: How much would the world miss Japan if it suddenly disappeared? See in context

As an American I personally would not miss it other than it's electronics contributions. Other than this I am not aware of Japan as a major factor. As far as items manufactured I can't think of anything that can't otherwise be produced elsewhere. I do not eat those noodles, the smell of them makes me gag and not into porn.

Honestly, I will admit, most Americans are so vain we seldom acknowledge other nations even exist unless we're vacationing, work forces us to or they threaten us in some manner.

Very misleading titled considering Congress is the reason government was shut down in the first place! It's not at all as if they saved the day!!

Americans overwhelmingly despise the Teapublican lead Congress for their misuse of power, disrespect of our president and nation!! We look forward to 2014 state elections when we will rid ourselves of many of them! We are determined to put in place a Congress that will work with our president and for the people over and above Party! One has only to consider today's polling of record low 26% approval. Senator McCain (R) assured his fellow members, this is down to staffers and immediate family! Ha!!

Shocking that there is still such racism between two Asian nations. Here in America we have a large population of both with Korean outnumbering Japanese. However, for the average American it's very hard to almost impossible to tell the two apart. So to hear there is still so much hatred between them is surprising. It's no wonder they express offense when confused one for the other.

Would this situation possibly affect Yokota Air Force Base? Not sure of the distance and if their source of drinking water is separate.

Posted in: House votes to derail Obamacare, fund government See in context

I beg to differ with those that say majority of people don't want Obamacare! The majority of the ppl voted President Obama in office not once, but TWICE! Both times by overwhelming landslides with Obamacare being major factor for voting! It continues to be a problem in America with Republicans believing themselves the voice of the people. A very in rational concept especially considering they are a fractured party with members fleeing like rats on a sinking ship!

NO, THE MAJORITY SPOKE WHEN WE ELECTED PRESIDENT OBAMA and OBAMACARE!!!

Article and comments are way to over the top! First of all President Obama has not lost control and John most definitely is not top gun!! Lol!! The argument is that Republicans had been threatening to not sign off on paying bills and funding for programs in attempts of defunding Obamacare, an government insurance program Republicans oppose. They have only made 42 attempts wasting time and money. Nothing serious, just more foolishness from john and crew!!

Posted in: Iranian president praises 'positive' Obama approach See in context

President Obama is a very wise man who seems to always be a step ahead of his enemies both near and afar. He seems to draw out hidden agendas in ways of making enemies expose themselves and has a way of drawing any possible friend near. I trust he will be able to judge this new Iranian leader's true intent as well as Israel's.

Posted in: Abe to pledge $1 mil to help victims of sexual violence in U.N. speech See in context

What war are they referring to? What was Japan's involvement? We don't get much news about Japan here so I'm lost.We are aware of sex trafficking, but China is a main focus not Japan or Korea.

I am noticing a pattern- even when being "open and upfront" leaders are avasive.

I'm learning so much about Japan, it's ppl and system from you guys. Can't say I'm pleased. In fact it now scares me having my kids living there for next 3 or more years.
