Posted in: City in Saitama Prefecture to require multilingual trash rules posted for foreigners See in context

I am always reminded of my second year living in japan, I know the rules when it comes to trash but one day I was woken up by an older man knocking on my door at 5am to tell me to go downstairs and clean the road because the crows had eaten someone's trash. I said it wasn't my trash because I know you aren't supposed to take I out till after 6. He wasn't having any of it and demanded that it was mine, I asked him why he thought it was mine and he said there was was a piece of paper with English written on it. A Japanese newspaper with a single word written in English. I told him to open his eyes and look beside me where my trash was and slammed the door in his face. My wife was annoyed too.

Posted in: Court rules Japan's dual nationality ban constitutional See in context

seeing all these comments about how japan should have 1 nationality is really stupid. My son is British/Japanese and I feel bad for him having to one day choose one nationality because its basically canceling out his other side. the rest of the world allows duel nationality and there is no problem. All these people commenting about ONE NATIONALITY are obviously old and stuck in the past.

also its funny to the people who down voted my original comment. i wonder why? you don't want to keep kids safe, its like sending them into the world not knowing who is helping them.... to those who down voted, you're a little sus XD

masterblaster

how is it stupid? its simple, put a camera outside of the bathroom so you can catch people entering. children should be safe at all time.

this is great but how about criminal background checks on everyone first including foreign teachers too. Over the years I have met so many strange foreign teachers that give off very weird vibes, as a parent I would 10000% not feel comfortable with them teaching my child.

you say it takes two to tango. however YOU are the adult. children are children also if  13-yr old girls were sending you looks that knocked you backwards it makes you seem a little sus.... maybe you shouldn't work with 13 year olds if they make you feel uncomfortable. just a thought...

its sad that they oppose same sex marriage here in japan. Why stop 2 people having the freedom to legally bind them together? its not harming anyone. I guess the fact that the vast majority of married couples living separate, unhappy is much better for Japan in his mind.

My worry is that China will most likely back Russia, then North Korea will get upset and get involved and then japan will be dragged into all this.

It’s so funny seeing all the triggered people who are against this…. “I hope it stays the same!” Why? How does this effect your life in anyway shape or form.

let people be happy, let people love whoever they want. People who complain about this kind of topic must be so miserable for not wanting people to be happy.

im so glad things might change here in japan.

Had my first vaccination today. I feel slightly safer, can’t wait to have the second but I will still continue to follow basic rules because I want to keep others safe too…. Sick and tired of seeing all these dumb anti vaxers spouting nonsense.

Hakman

You say protect the vulnerable yet you want to continue like nothing is happening, so what take your mask off and meet someone who is potentially vulnerable and possibly infect them?

the reason why we wear those “face diapers” is to protect others more so than ourselves. It’s comments like yours that are really frustrating because it seems to me that you only care about yourself.

We have been saying the same stuff for almost 2 years, we know the government don’t test enough. It’s so stupid.

im sat here with my 2 year old with a fever of 39.5 coughing like crazy, got all the symptoms.

took him to the docs on Saturday and was told it’s “just a normal cold, don’t worry”

it’s been like it non stop, took him to a different docs today and was told the same. I asked if we could have a PCR and they said we don’t need one…..

my son gets colds a lot, this isn’t a cold.

the government should test more, but like I said before, they won’t change.

I find it weird seeing people saying “I see people not wearing masks, no protective screens”

where are you guys? Everywhere I see people are masked up, and all the bars I have seen have screens.

yesterday on a packed train everyone was wearing masks not talking.

the numbers are getting out of control but what’s worse is the lack of testing and the vaccine roll out.

my wife had hers on Wednesday and said the process was quick and smooth and doesn't understand what is taking the JGov so long.

Why is it that japan never seem to exceed over 10k tests?

this is such a joke, and only 40,000 vaccinated people in almost a month is bs.

the gov need to step up their game BIG time. Mind you, it’s been over a year and they haven’t done anything yet so I don’t hold my breath.

Funny thing though is my wife who is a dentist said the same thing last week. Her clinic got a letter saying that they will be in the category to be vaccinated first in early March and the general public roll out starts in may.

must have been a mistake I guess...

I never ceases to amaze me how stupid people are.

1 why are they allowing travelers into the country in the first place?

2 why the hell would you travel to another county if you have problems breathing and Have other symptoms.

if one thing this pandemic shows us is that people don’t care about the effect one persons actions have on potentially the world.

it’s so infuriating.

Posted in: Gov't to suspend Go To Travel campaign in some areas See in context

I think it’s commons sense that’s a huge problem right now. Not only in japan has these “go to travel” type of campaigns caused in most cases a spike in covid cases. As soon as they announced the campaign I’m pretty sure the vast majority of people were thinking it was a bad idea. However people have become impatient, seeking “normality” and have had enough. I get it, however this virus dosent care about that. We should wait to travel/ eat out, but at the same time we have to help those who work in travel/restaurants. It’s a hard thing.

these are all positive things however the government should wait until we have a solid vaccine in the country and announce GoTo again. I think people would feel safer and use the opportunity then.

i don’t understand the “spirit” of these bars?

what, the fact that these girls are paid to pretend to be interested in you and your life and just praise you while when you leave they slag you off and think you’re lame XD

sureeeeee have fun buddy!

n1k1T

well considering they said that covid is caused by flu then I highly doubt he is a doc.

Im also in Shinjuku so I agree it is very hard to keep your guard up however it is up to you to go out and engaging with people. As we have seen most of the new cases are due to people going to izakayas and clubs. They should limit business times and be harder on owners who aren’t keeping checks on the hygiene of these places. Kabukicho is a pit so it’s no surprise it kicked off there.

like I said, it’s hard almost impossible I would say to always have your guard up but it seems that people are starting to just think it’s over. People need to be more aware that’s all.

erbaviva

Please tell me how qualified you are in regards to medical knowledge, this ISNT like the flu at all, as someone who has had people in their family contract covid who have said first had it’s nothing like the flu. Comments like yours drive me nuts.

it’s idiotic thinking like “close your doors, lock yourselves in and might as well stop breathing and I’m going to live my life“ is a valid comment, It isn’t about YOU it’s about everyone else, the reason why this virus is on the rise is because people are letting their guards down and thinking the worst is over.
