The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

Nobody has said the culprits go unpunished, merely commented upon the reasons why this crime is so rife here.

People who prey on the old are scum.

"but still man, a little less hate and a little more education please."

I think you, your fellow believers and Frank need to follow that advice! An issue of faith? lol. I believe it was and always will be an issue of science/fact, no?

The "solution" is to have real family relationships in which you talk to and meet your relatives regularly, so if you do become senile or whatever, they know to keep an eye on you/savings. Moreover if I had 15 million sitting about I would give it to my children and grandchildren, so I could see them using/enjoying it.

What is the point of hoarding 15 million yen like this, if you are just going to give it away as easily as this? Enjoy the cash or share it before you kick the bucket.

Surely a more realistic game would have the Chinese practicing surrendering to the Japanese?

Abenomics in action. There is now 15 million yen generating jobs/profits for businesses instead of sitting in this woman's bank account doing nothing.

Jokes aside........I also have no sympathy now. But one wonders why the bank didn't catch this? Suddenly withdrawing 15 million yen, 73 years old. That said I guess she could have had it in a safety deposit box at home, which in an earthquake/tsunami prone country is pretty odd too.

Posted in: S Korean court rules against Mitsubishi Heavy on forced labor See in context

Korea's constant whining is really getting too much.

Personally, even though I like the country and would like to visit again, I think I'll express my opinion on this issue with my wallet. No trips to Korea, no Korean products.

London had riots in the summer of 2011, but last year's Olympics were problem free. Istanbul has plenty of time to get its house in order.

I know a foreign guy who is into this kind of thing. It's interesting cos he has convinced himself that the girls enjoy it and are consciously trying to flash their kickers at him.

The range of cameras are also amazing: pens, keyrings, etc.

Posted in: Quincy Jones to promote K-pop globally See in context

All the K-pop and J-pop stars given all the time in the world would never produce a song like "Like a Rolling Stone".

Recently I asked a few friends who are the Japanese equivalent of the Beatles, Dylan, etc. Simple answer, there isn't. Enka to J-pop has always been about the money, never pushing the envelope. American, Japanese, Korean pop music these days is all the same BGM.

Posted in: Japanese women retake top spot for life expectancy See in context

Interesting topic.

Live a typical "boring" Japanese life for 86 years or live a bit and shave a few years off?

My neighbors sit around watching TV (no matter what season) and get two visits from their kids/grandkids a year (despite the fact they live in the same town!) From my point of view, they seem bored/to be sat about waiting for the big sleep.

Better to die old than young, but I plan to enjoy myself if I make it to retirement.

Posted in: Obama says 'Trayvon Martin could have been me, 35 years ago' See in context

America is such a joke. Why is the president commenting on this? Doesn't he have any actual work to do? Like keeping his campaign promises? Or making laws to prevent this kind of thing.

How about doing some decision making rather than talking?
