I guess my country screwed up in a sense when we gave them a democracy without anyone overseeing their progress. They never knew what was a democracy. They have always been told what to do by their government In everything. Even now, there isn't any real leadership. Yeah, they have always looked to the U.S.,(mainly white people here) on what to do and how things should be, but i think that is changing, which is why they are somewhat going back to their past ways. Or maybe they always had that in mind. But I think its going to start to repeat again. Someone should have come here after writing their constitution and give them clear guidance and instruction. But that being said, democracies have their flaws to when you get idiots and corruption in power, not only governmental power, but media power also. It just controls the people to do crazy things. and crazy people are going to do their best to do crazy things.

See, this is a pure example! You have no youth in this picture! Its ALL older people. Why? Because the youth don't care. Same with history. Same with everything. Its just waste of time and energy for these people. Yeah, its good for them to show their support, but what about their future? Thats why I think its all a trick sometimes. Its all to make us foreigners believe they are changing. The only thing they want to change is history. And they want to rule. Same with the people going abroad or studying english. its just old people taking an interest. how is that going to help the future?

Mainly military work and martial arts. Got out a while back, stuck around for teaching. I once had a nice girlfriend. A lot went down and wasn't accepted in the family. but as i look around, i see many acquaintances of mine doing well, like a lot of other people on here living and enjoying their lives. i don't know why they treat me they way they do. its clearly discrimination and singling out... then again, i don't see any other gaijin like me. i am somewhat…different. maybe thats the problem. i thought it would be a place for me. hopefully they let that voodoo doll of me go, so i will never come back and find friends and a belonging for me elsewhere.

after living here as long as i have, and knowing how two faced and deceitful they can be, its not a doubt in my mind thats what they are going to do. But then again, they already did. None of the kids really even know about what happened. and for the ones who do, they don't really care. I am telling you. Take it as a warning. They are up to something. their military is growing again. there are a lot of things going on and nobody seems to see it. or maybe they don't care. fascism thinking is dangerous.

a lot parents in the states have been telling their kids to toughen up. I remember I was bullied in school in 3rd grade. this kid picked on me several times and kicked my tail. One day he started again with me, i kicked his behind in that class. everyone in the class cheered me on. the teacher was even like, good job! i even think we had a pizza party if i am not mistaken. But kids back then never thought about killing themselves. I don't know where that came from. Was in japanese anime influenced or something?

but as for that fight, i will never forget that. i didn't do anything to that kid. just minded my own business. problem is now, kids stand up for themselves these days, that can be used against them in a court of law. same with adults. its a dangerous system now.

Posted in: Prime Minister Shinzo Abe wants patriotism and moral education included in school curricula in Japan. Do you think this is a good idea? See in context

I don't know aout you guys, but aren't they already nationalistic already? In the sense they believe they are the most superior. Many japanese people I know tell me that most japanese people are 'shy', and that they need 'more confidence', etc. But man, that is a mask. I swear to you. This people are motivated and ready to go. They have a momentum built up behind them. Which would be good, in good hands. But thats not the case. I can almost guarantee that they have already put more nationalism and patriotism in their classroom curriculums at school. It has been years since I was a ALT last time in junior and seiro high schools. But even then, they had some in their, Which is ok, its their country and culture. And I think its great. But I honestly see an unhealthy side to their patriotism, more like the weed of nationalistic fascism growing again in the garden. Cant say I didn't warn you. People saying that the Emperor has no influence on the government and shouldn't get involved, but yet they want to build the military again?? That growth of a military is dangerous. And whole decade of foreigners controlled from anime and manga. They got the world rapped around their fingers. You guys don't see it.

Keyan Reeves. One of my favourite actors. Great person off the screen also, as I met him in person in L.A. I honestly don't like any japanese actors. The good movies were the really old ones - seven samurai, ran, etc. Kurosawa made some good samurai movies that had a feel of the old. Most japanese actors these days can't act. because they are reading a script in their head. It Hurts my eyes. Even that one dude from the recent battle ship. Crap was a waste of money and time. I saw him also in L.A., typical shady, weird japanese personality when I spoke to him. The only good japanese actor I can say has some class would be Ken Watanabe. Thats about it.

Nature is being to soft on these some of these selfish, hateful, little humans who continue to destroy her. Instead of working and cooperating with each other to help nurse her, we are too busy hating on one another and slaughtering important animals in our ecosystems for cash.

why are you saying i need psychiatric help because i get kicked and attacked at the station? fortunately i haven't flown that far over the coo coos nest as of yet, i did call that number though. not because of being attacked at the stations, but because of something else. i am half. Not a japanese half, but i am an American of mixed background. And I don not feel japan changing at all. So i don't really understand where this documentary is getting at. I don't think it is getting any better. but maybe you are gonna say i am being negative.

Jstokyo said it well. I find them only to be only takers. They don't want to give anything. that is why i find it so hypocritical of them to be racists and discriminative of people of difference when they take and use everything from the outside.

Wow. Japan is changing!! After seeing this doc, they like all kinds of people! What the hell was I thinking!! They don't discriminate! Well, can't explain my situation. Maybe I need to off myself because I have no place in this society and or world ruled by the omotenashi. All the looks, laughs, kicks to the back of the legs at the station, women lying in my face numerous times, and all the time being here, i thought I might find someone who might take a liking to me. But its just me!! Good-bye cruel world.

just a diversion tactic to make you think something else and put shame to them while making them seem harmless or foolish. drunks do it on the street all the time. this guy is 70 yrs old, he lived his life. its like some students who study English here. You can credit them for their efforts on studying English at that age, but in all reality, what is this person going to do with it? Not a damn thing? Instead, there should be a nice looking 20 something year old girl in the lesson, looking to be with a guy like me to help save the world. mo-tai-nai.

They make one of the best engineers in the world. Oh the conveniences. As for customer service, a lot of people say the customer service is good. I find it annoying as hell. They over do things. Servers are all bowing at my table, interrupting my conversation. Everytime they bring something to the table, its like they try to make you stop talking to acknowledge their service. They need to chill out. I sure as hell wouldn't tip anyone with those skills. I miss the waiters and waitresses in the states. they always gave me a sincere and friendly chat. They weren't trying to put any karate kiai's in their service. Oh, and why is it that if it is someone birthday, EVRYONE has to join in? I am trying to eat. Let that table celebrate!

Japanich> I am from the U.S. I have many friends from the U.S. and other places to seem to 'fit' in. And as for me, i don't think its a language barrier. i speak enough japanese. They are just flat out racist, and they are so subtle about it. Like ninja. They do it smiling. And they target people who do things somewhat different, whether it be good or bad. Lets face it, they have a sense of bully culture where they have allows worked in mungers and picked on the different..like you said, they lump themselves together, because? they are strong in numbers, they know that! Its them against the world. And the way I see it, many foreigners here who say, well, if you don't like it, leave! Which is true to a certain extent are avoiding the problem and allowing equality.

ambrosia> how would you feel if you went to a room or a social party where there were many people there and EVERYONE at that party ignored you and just treated you like crap because of some difference about you (skin colour or whatever). Even when you went up to them and broke the ice and said hello, they just look at you like you are crazy or you don't belong. Not a good feeling, right? That is the kind of atmosphere they create. And that is rude. Kinda feels like genocide. Not saying everyone has to be your friend at the party but if there was a sense of healthy variety, then people could find their clicks and people who are compatible with one another. But japan kinda makes this one shoe fits all culture and mentality for everyone to wear.

I am an American, who is of mixed background, but I don't feel any changes here. I am not welcomed. This documentary doesn't seem real. Whenever I am out and about in Japan, i get a lot of strange looks. None of the women like me. They kick my legs when I am walking at the station going to work. I had the police called on me for talking to a girl at the convenience store. Is this treatment ONLY towards me? Why? Because I won't grow dreads, cut my head bald, or cut my hair into a mohawk? I am mixed and it is clear. I am happy about it. I don't discriminate on race. I like people to be who they are. Thats what makes drinks at a table and a chat fun.

Yes. Everything is about following their rules and their standards. I don't think that can fit well with people of different backgrounds and customs. Everyone is different. At least i would like to think. But they tend to work and move in one unit.

I am all about respecting one another and doing what is wright, but at the end of the day, we all can't be and think japanese. Unless you want to. And that is what they want you to do. I strongly feel that is what they want the west to do and become.
