his is a great idea, even if symbolic. I read that the targeted quantity of gold and other metals will only cover a proportion of the total needs (maybe half or so?), but still it's a great piece of environmental PR. A much-needed victory for the organisers.

Well I think it is perfectly all right. Japan is now in a period where bilateral and multi-bilateral relations should be reviewed. There are several factors involved such as economy,trade, globalization of Japan and of course the coming 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Rather we should say that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is working really really hard.
