Posted in: Could Kamala Harris beat Donald Trump in November's presidential race? See in context

Harris has very little chance of beating Trump. She has not shown an iota of competence in her job. Just about every time she opens her mouth, Harris comes off as unserious with her cackling and bumbling word salad, no matter what the topic.

Posted in: Do you think political correctness will be the death of comedy? See in context

Political correctness is just a phase. Things will eventually revert to the way they were. Those who enjoy comedy are already voicing their opposition to the Karens at comedy clubs.

"China says....." Have you seen Chinese AI? It's a complete joke. Heck, Baidu itself is total garbage.

Isn't this the case for every LDP prime minister for the last 20+ years? But let's keep voting in these incompetent fools

Posted in: Japan issues heatstroke alerts as temperatures soar See in context

Took my son to Yomiuriland yesterday. It was brutally hot, but one thing I noticed with too many Japanese people there is they overdress. That can't be safe or comfortable in such heat.

Posted in: Japan considers raising truck speed limit for faster goods deliveries See in context

That's probably not the best idea. From my driving experience, truck drivers tend to be rather aggressive and sometimes reckless, especially on the expressways. Faster speeds will likely lead to more dangerous accidents

Posted in: 'Job-leaving agents' in Japan help people escape awkwardness of quitting See in context

Leaving one company for another isn't betraying the company - it's looking out for yourself and your family. If a company provided an environment where a person feels they are valued and compensated properly for their work, no one would be looking to leave in the first place.

Great! No one alive today will be around to see J-gov renege on that promise come 2115.

He bought gifts for everyone in Kishida's inner circle (on our dime) so that makes everything ok. Corrupt as always.

Posted in: Company uses whale meat vending machines to promote sales in Japan See in context

"But whale meat is part of Japanese food culture and we can respect the lives of whales by appreciating their meat"

Whale meat hasn't been part of Japanese culture since WW2. If it was, we'd see it sold in every supermarket - but it's not. There is no justification to keep whaling at the rate Japan does when almost no one is eating it. As for the BS excuse of research, no research takes this long, year after year, with no real results.

Posted in: Activists fight Tokyo gov't over historic Jingu Stadium demolition See in context

Renovate or build new, I just want some decent size seats to be able to watch the game comfortably. Anyone who's been to Jingu, or any Japanese ballpark, knows how cramped those seats are.

Posted in: Japan to allow unlicensed electric scooter riding from July See in context

How is it that you don't need a license to ride these scooters? Don't they have license plates on them, meaning they are street vehicles? It's bad enough that many riding these don't follow traffic laws even with a driver's license, but now Japan will allow those who have no knowledge of traffic laws to get on these?

Posted in: The Japanese government is offering families 1 million yen to relocate from Tokyo in an effort to revitalize towns across the country. Do you think this is a good idea? See in context

It will require a lot more than a million yen ($7500) to get people to move out of Tokyo. These people will need to find meaningful jobs, suitable housing, and a school(s) if they have kids. That money will be gone in no time.

Posted in: Japan to tighten COVID border controls for travelers from China See in context

For those claiming "anti-Chinese" China had very similar protocols in place for those wanting to visit China during their zero-covid policy (all vaccines and boosters required, negative Covid tests, plus 7 days quarantine). Was China being "anti-everyone" back then? They were just taking precautionary measures Japan is doing now.

Posted in: Do you think participation in extracurricular school activities in Japan is beneficial for students? See in context

Extracurricular activities in Japanese schools are too excessive. You'd think these kids were training for the Olympics for the amount of time they are required to spend on what should be character-building, fun activities.

Posted in: Panel wants Japanese public to pay more for defense buildup See in context

Talk about being out of touch with reality. There's nothing left to give - the govt has already taken whatever's left and wasted everything else. How about getting the money from j-corp? They've only been stealing from their workers for decades.
