Dismantling the coast guard seems like a massive bureaucratic mess waiting to cost the tax payers in Korea millions of tax dollars, just repainting ships would cost tons of money.

Bingo!!! Park is a real opportunist, she

Prove that she's a responsible politician. Seriously? Reforming the coast guard need money. Now she can find a perfect excuse to clear traces of embezzlement

Bravo, Pres. Park. More joyful tear please

News say it's more than 20 people were killed by the mob so far

source please, don't go around spreading false rumour. The riot in Vietnam was caused by the opportunists/looters/anti-Vietnam traitors, nothing like China where the riots against Japan corps are orchestrated by the CCP.

Toby ain't NO Spiderman, he's a good actor, great body for the part, but lacking in personality. Garfield just fits the part perfectly, they seem to be on track more with the characters and I liked how they finally got it right between Peter and Gwen and the old "web shooters" he built.

Tobey is better as an actor. TBH I like the Sam Rami's Spiderman version- Spidey has a life too. The new reboots are your typical soulless action flicks.

Posted in: Tech tips: A guide to upgrading, using XP computers See in context

Except that OSX never has these major updates like windows, they consistently release new features from year to year, rather than letting a whole bunch build up the releasing new versions like windows.

In the Windows world, we have these things called Service Packs, yearly or bi-annual and free of charge. A major version change is when there's major changes to the kernel and core services.

Macs are industry standard for any company doing tech or design work. South Park the tv show creates their episodes in 6 days using Macs out of the box. Any design agency (we work with a few) uses Macs. So your comment really doesn't match with the real world.

Can do the same thing with a Windows PC and more.

As compared to your elitist attitude regarding Windows?

You just proved my point.

Posted in: Tech tips: A guide to upgrading, using XP computers See in context

Let's make this clear:

Windows Updates are free. Only a major version change would cost money - it's obvious. Windows 8 is Windows 7 with new API for Metro. You could never lauch Metro if you wish as it is a better 7. OSX updates (or name changes) are minor compared to a Windows major version change. Mac machines are overpriced and OSX is almost useless in a working environment. The elitist attitude of Mac users pisses me off.

If somebody told me our school division servers were ditching Windows Server and going with either Linux or Apple, I would have to (reluctantly) choose Apple over Linux. Student data needs to be protected just as much as your credit card info does.

No you don't. Either keep using Win Server, or go Unix, or at least a rock solid Linux distro, such as CentOS.

The guy above talking about integration makes me laugh. Use Skydrive, Windows, WinPhone and come back then we can talk. Microsoft's solution is the best out there.

This again, sf2k. The problem of solar energy is, although the source is limitless, the infrastructure for it is costly and inefficient. Btw, how do you think they produce solar panel and battery? So the world has to develop both green energy technology alongside optimizing the usage of fossil fuels. Scientists are certainly not idiotic laymen. It's simply not there yet.

Posted in: AKB48 star in new adidas commercial for Japan's World Cup soccer team See in context

Wow. I really thought there'd be more AKB haters posting on this one, especially since the last post on AKB a few days ago drew a huge range of criticisms. Seems like Japan Today has become a beehive of AKB bashmongerers. MEH. For the record, Yuko Oshima is awesome in this commercial. I love that Japan is embracing its subculture roots. Score one for all the WOTAS! And to all you AKB antis, meh. Your comments about AKB being talentless is old and boring. Go find yourself a new group to become so hate obsessed over. All in or nothing, AKB is here to stay.

I would trade Bieber and the gang here for AKB any time. Be glad that you can enjoy kawaii all day long.

Just the undesired ads are a real annoyance. But I believe this is the price to "pay" for having this service "free".

You already paid with your own personal info. Don't be fooled by these "free" services.

The FB generation is now entering their 30s, of course it's not a cool playground to them anymore

t's not just a specs thing. It's about the user experience. Win laptops are generally poorly made and come with tonnes of system-hogging 'bloatware'. Mac notebooks are aluminium and have a patented unibody design - so they're tough as nails and just feel premium

That's the point. People by cheap laptops and blame its suckiness on Windows. I have used Thinkpads for so long and I would never touch a lame Mac unless I have to.
