Well, that's what you get with all that concrete. A few more trees in Tokyo wouldn't hurt.

It was a pleasant day here in the park in Osaka, with a chilly breeze and lovely sun rays.

@bush: remember the Apollo moon landings

Unfortunate that the anti-American right, US and foreign, have claimed the moon landings were fake, but that's typical of those pushing a firehose of falsehoods in attempts to dupe the more poorly educated and others favoring totalitarianism.

Doubting the authenticity of the manned mission to the moon has nothing to do with politics, though.

U.S. vetoes Arab-backed U.N. resolution demanding immediate humanitarian cease-fire in Gaza

Let's see a U.N. resolution demanding an end to the genocide the Arabs are perpetuating against Israel since October 7. The terrorists are still shooting rockets and missiles into Israel on a daily basis. Israel needs aid and security for its people.

The victim mentality is strong with this one...

Bobs Your UncleToday 10:02 am JST

And curious how in Japan they don't call it for what it is sexual assault, they soften it by calling it chikan or groping. That is a reflection of how unseriously sexual assault is taken in Japan.

Also, note how sexual assault of this nature is categorised under the seemingly modest title of the Nuisance Prevention Ordinance.

In most cases, sexual assault is sexual assault and categorized as such. It's not a 'nuisance' it's a violation of an individual's bodily autonomy, dignity, and rights. It constitutes a form of violence and abuse, characterized by any unwanted sexual contact or behaviour that occurs without the explicit consent of the victim. It can involve a wide range of actions, from unwanted touching or groping to rape or other forms of penetration.

Sexual assault is not only a violation of physical boundaries but also has significant psychological and emotional impacts on the victim. It undermines their sense of safety, security, and trust in others.

So here's the correction for the sake of this women and women everywhere:

Lethal injection is pretty good. People claim they see wincing with it but I doubt it if it is administered correctly. Same thing is done for euthanizing pets and people as I understand it.

The problem is it's often NOT administered correctly. Doctors sign the Hippocratic oath, so they are not allowed to take part in the execution of people. Instead, unqualified/un(der)trained personnel are left to administer the lethal injection, and they often botch it, leading to hours of immense suffering. It's pretty horrible, really.

I reckon the guillotine is still probably the fastest way to bite it.

Ahh okay, chief. Many men will take advantage of women given the opportunity. Women are prone to be sucked in by fame and flash. That sets up a common situation where the male, for what ever reason, becomes demanding and aggressive when there is a hint the women is no longer interested or getting wary. Then he forces himself on her - she may not always openly reject this, but it's clear to her and him if he cares that she does not want to have sex.

This has happened to me on a few occasions usually after I had a few too many.

It's date rape and many men will admit that they have committed it, possibly unknowingly.

Can't say I have. Nor do I know anyone that has.

Pfizer has been pretty aggressively advertising their product in Japan. Their ads are common on YouTube and various radio stations here in Osaka.

I mean, in Europe at least they haven't reported infection numbers in the media for like a year. One would hope that once COVID finally gets reclassified here they'll drop it here as well.

Agreed that masks won't magically disappear overnight, but I'm certain more people will feel emboldened to leave theirs off. Also, once the official government guidelines change gyms should no longer have any reason to enforce mask wearing.

To be sure teleworking is ALWAYS a good thing. Even if the pandemic is over, teleworking should be the norm. It can lead to not only minimization of Covid spread but also the spread of the common cold and the old fashioned flu. Options for students to study from home should also be explored as many students who suffer bullying at school may see this as a good solution, not to mention students who suffer from Short Attention spans could benefit greatly from having classes and lectures sent to them by email which could then allow them to revisit the class over and over again, which would help them internalize the material better.

In short, we should get it into our heads that there has to be a new normal. especially working and studying from home should be explored more in a country which suffers from overwork and overschooling. We have a chance to fundamentally change society for the better, and the biggest pity will be if we let that opportunity go to waste.

Never let a good crisis go to waste...

AntiquesavingToday 11:50 am JST

Big difference one is backed up by science and fact, the other is from rumours spread by anti vaxxers with zero facts, zero science and frankly unbelievable to anyone that can think.

It's pretty common knowledge that the vaccine doesn't prevent infection, but merely weakens any symptoms. That's literally how it is designed to work. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated can get infected and spread the virus.

My point was that quite often unvaccinated and infected get conflated, which is of course nonsense. No person, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, is in a continuous state of infection.

People that want to take the vaccine to feel protected should totally do so. Likewise, those that feel they don't benefit from it should be free to pass. Pretty simple.

And I rest my case!

You actually believe that somehow a Vaccinated person can cause illnesse in others just by being vaccinated.

Sad!

Not any more outrageous than believing that somehow an unvaccinated person can caulse illness in others just by being unvaccinated, though. Which is something that I see being perpetuated.
