Posted in: Bruce Willis says he's against new gun controls See in context

I think Bruce Willis is aware that if he were an anti gun lobbyist, his "Die Hard" movie sales would probably decline!...Sadly, I think Hollywood has had (And still does!) an influence on peoples attitude towards guns and violence!!...From John Wayne, Clint Eastwood to Bruce Willis, they have portrayed the shooting and killing of people as being the norm!!..Of course when it comes to the footage "Collateral Murder" of US troops shooting civilians in Iraq, it casts a whole new light on what weapons do to people, hence the sanitised media coverage of wars today!!

For what its worth, Airbus are having their fair share of problems too with the A380 and they've certainly had more than enough problems with the fly by wire system when in its infancy on earlier A300 series aircraft!....Comments here slating Yuasa as a manufacturer are a little unfounded, since as a company they have been producing batteries for an awful long time and these batteries aren't just some straight off the peg battery that you purchase off eBay or your local electronics hobby shop!!...There is more behind this than meets the eye and I can't help but wonder if Boeings industrial problems have spilled over into the quality control area as has happened in the past!...Several years ago British Airways complained of poor quality control (Fasteners missing or fitted the wrong way round, missing parts, etc.) on 747's and 767's in its fleet!

This guy is about as subtle in his comments as a brick through a shop window!

"I don't need that kind of care, I will die quickly", he said, adding he had left written instructions that his life is not artificially prolonged.

I have no doubt that he'll be begging doctors to keep the life support system switched ON when his time comes...His kind always do!!!

Posted in: Union blames Boeing 787 problems on outsourcing See in context

Much as outsourcing is maybe part of the problem, I think we have to look deeper into the initial design of this plane!...I don't think the use of lithium ion batteries is a good choice, in view of their volatile nature!...Take the accident on September. 3rd, 2010 when a UPS Boeing 747-400 carrying more than 81,000 lithium batteries caught fire after leaving Dubai, crashing and killing both pilots, plus their have been incidents of people's mobile phones, laptops, etc. catching fire and burning through bags and suitcases on aircraft!...Other research states that

Halon agents commonly used in aircraft Class C cargo holds are worse than useless in suppressing lithium battery fires because, at the enormous temperatures of lightning-fast metal oxidation reactions, Halon is split (Dissociated) into violent chemical oxidizers that are far more potent than oxygen (You might as well dump aviation fuel onto the blaze)

No doubt this aircraft is going to be a winner among the airlines in view of its weight reduction/fuel efficiency with the use of carbon fibre-reinforced-plastic but I wonder how environmentally friendly it will be in this trade off when it reaches its service life, since you won't be making many pots and pans out of plastic when it eventually gets recycled!
