Sony had the cool factor... Problem was that it wasn't really any better than its competitors. When user interfaces became more and more critical with common electronics, they failed. Now they rely on a has-been name and proprietary technologies/patents, which seems like a last resort to hold on in a market where things like Pwnies take hold.
