@Becu: A majority of Japanese do not like or support either Abe or the LDP, a majority of those who vote do, a very different and important distinction. Yet, with these kind of deliveries by the ruling class, even the old faithful will begin to twitch. Foreign influence, policy and money has shaped Japan since GHQ took over, from the constitution, to the politics. The LDP was heavily financed and supported by the CIA, so “foreigners” have not just “known better” but actually “acted”.

An entire species is under threat for the arrogant appeasement of just a few, mostly, men. Japan, stand up and tell them NO.

Heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice when they needn’t have if the society in whim they lived protected them as it should. Rest in peace? No, rest in anger, I hope their deaths haunt the NRA, the free reign gun tooting NRA. Shame on them.

Boeing has a far better safety record than Airbus.

Not true. Both manufacturers, when you look at Full Loss Event (FLE), which is the proportion of people killed in a plane crash, are essentially identical:

Airbus: 24 FLE, 35 crashes, 0.686 FLE/crash

Boeing: 171.95 FLE, 251 crashes, 0.685 FLE/crash

Those saying it isn’t of concern, connected or relevant, well, it is. It’s the company’s culture that is terrifying, pushing through an aircraft without training to “save money", the connection to the FAA, the slow response to obvious issues that killed 189 people with the Lion Air flight. All VERY concerning.

A maximum of 12 days to bring all customers back online, with the repairs, checks and checks again to ensure safety on a heavily failsafe guarded system? Seems reasonable to me. So few fires -- 3? -- no explosions and no city blocks, towns or villages told to evacuate due to gas leaks after a 6.1 earthquake: QED.

Posted in: Marijuana tops paint thinner as most abused substance in Japan See in context

As with any substance that we ingest, too much of a good thing can be bad. Especially when comparing modern marijuana to products even 15 years ago, the level of THC is much greater now. An overdose on marijuana is dissimilar to overdoses on other drugs because marijuana consumption, in and of itself, is not life-threatening. But using too much of the drug can have hazardous results, which may increase the risk of death.

Someone who consumed a lot of marijuana may be unaware of their environment, which can lead to accidents. Furthermore, marijuana intoxication has been linked, in some studies, with psychosis, resulting in hallucinations, delusions, or extreme paranoia. A person who is having a psychotic episode may put themselves in dangerous situations due to confusion or detachment.
