To me it make sense for Japan to donate... as a thank you for the support that France gave to Tohoku.

Seperate from that the Japanee governement should step up it's efforts for Tohoku citizens...

Did the Japanese government ever wondered why this issue always comes back?

For sure I honestly believe that the emperor has made many efforts to apologise for the war atrocities committed by the EJA. Unfortunately each time these efforts have been countered by Abe making stupid remarks and trying to whitewash the crimes of his grandfather.

So NO, I do not think the emperor should apologise... but it should be Abe san... not likely though...

Germany handled their past so much better by troughly and sincerely apologizing and most of all...acting accordingly pasing laws that make it a crime to deny the war crimes...

And is that not what the Japanese government is exactly doing... denying historical facts, re-writing history and glorifying war criminals in yasukuni shrine... ?

Maybe here lays the answer to the question why this issue keeps coming back...

Did the Japanese government ever wondered why this issue happens in Japan regularly and never in Germany?

Germany apologized sincerely and took actions accordingly.

For example on Germany it is illegal to deny the holocaust.

In Japan the government denies or downplays all the war atrocities.

As much as I love Japan and the Japanese people I am afraid i must say the handle this issue very badly from the start and with Abe san things went from bad to worse...

Strangerland is absolutely right.

In Japan this is news... in many other countries this even wouldn't be as murders happen by the dozens....

Trump made a fool of himself. Nothing new there, but by conducting this meeting he damaged the sanctions and empowered Kim... the common Nort Koreans continue living in poverty...

Thanks Trump...

Completely agree (as often is the case...) with Strangerland.

Why should a lady not be able to visit anybody's home... ?

Suggesting that this is an issue that she caused by visiting his apartment is just sick.

I had ladies at my place without ever being aggressive to them... for sure you pick up the sign when they are interested in something more than a glass of wine...

If more men understand this... than maybe ladies would feel better about dating and feeling free to visit our place...

When I see the voting on comments here,I am amazed how many people vote negatively when the plain truth is mentioned, meaning Japan, the country that I love deeply, still cannot sincerely admit their war crimes and does everything within its power to misguide their own population...

I find this sad.

I love Japan and the Japanese. And I believe most of us here do so. But changing history books is something the Japanese Governement started to do and still continue to do so. Same for denying to have enslaved thousends of woman during the war. The only right word is "sex-slaves", not "comfort woman". By doing so, they provoke the actions that Korean people take now... So don't complain for getting hitted back, you started it !

I think the problem is not strictle related to Japan or Japanese. It is bad and should be punished strongly. But admit that the huge sentences given in the U.S. are not helping the problem... I am amazed that people always shout to punish stronger and stronger. Compared to other countries Japan is very safe, so... better think twice before we tell them how they should handle things...
