Posted in: Suicide jumpers disrupt train services at Gotanda, Shinjuku See in context

@disillusioned. Re-read what I wrote, take a moment to think in my words. MAYBE if the family wasn't forced to pay for these jumpers they would choose a different method of suicide. MAYBE if its because they are angry and knowing their family will have to pay is why they do it!! I don't care how inconvenienced you were, a person died and was at such a point in their mental state that they thought this was the only way for them. Yes they are selfish and weak, but where the hell were their so called friends, guardians?? I bet most people in shinjuku that night saw "some guy" standing on the platform, maybe he stood there as a couple of trains passed, cold and humourless commutors pushing passed "jyama omai" would probably be heard a few times then he decides this is it.... I think suicide is the stupid way, the cowards way but some people aren't strong or they've been beaten down so many times that one day they stay down. Help these people!! Maybe say a kind word like "you ok?" And mean it when you see someone looking down. You never know you may save a life.

Making the family pay is stupid, I mean seriously, if someone is angry and wants to cause the maximum result with their death then jumping in front of the busiest train in Tokyo at the busiest time is bound for the best result. Yes he's selfish and weak but if its anger that drives jumpers then they are gonna go for their monies worth so to speak. Seems to me that instead of barriers maybe a decent health care system would be better value for money.

Shame on you Japan. This is sickening. They should get life!! RIP little one. I don't even want to imagine the pain of this kid.

How many old people and kids will freeze to death this winter in that area because of inadequate housing, heating or clothing. that money could've been used in a much better way. I'm sure a cheaper monument couldve been erected. Someone mentioned Japanese are superstitious... Lmao. No, the elite just know how to start a lost cause money pit of a campaign. For all those bashing the "negative" comments I think you should look inside yourselves and ask "am I truely human? Do I have a soul? Am I really the kind of person who puts material goods above human life?" if the answer is yes then I truely fear for the human race. It's a dead tree!!

Tens of thousands protesting an aircraft that may kill a few people if it crashes, which I really hope it doesn't!! And yet only a few thousand protesters against tepco and nuclear power and basically no one sgai st gov corruption. I think some people need to get their priorities right and admit they want Americans out. It actually sickens me that this took place.

. I certainly remember Edano on tv stating there had been no explosion for 3 odd hrs yet forign media showing live footage of it. I guess the dirty gaijin media must've doctored the footage from a movie to make Japan look bad... Or maybe Japan lied. Hmmmm. Which could it be. I think some posters on here definitely are in the pay of government funds because that's the only way they could be so blinkered and forgetful. Jp gov screwed up, tepco screwed up they nuked Japan and the people who saved it were the "Fukushima 50" and others like the firemen who risked/gave their lives. Do not belittle them or those who have/will die with the parroting of gov properganda.

There's online security in Japan? I wouldnt believe it unless I'd seen it written here. I guess Sony didn't learn their lesson from before , also the fact that it's 3rd party probably makes it worse.

Posted in: Project to preserve Rikuzentakata 'Miracle Pine' draws criticism on Internet See in context

I'm sorry but it's a tree. Yes it may have survived but so did many children who still need financial help. It is a sad state of affairs when a tree becomes more important than human welfare. Spending this much on it or even condoning it is simply stupid. What kind of person puts a tree above the needs of children? If they want a symbol why not leave Tokyo tower bent so that in the future people will ask "whys it bent?" why not leave the boat ontop of the restaurant? It's a tree that is dying. It is NOT more important than human life. And before the defenders ask it. Yes I have been there, I went there to help.

Posted in: Gov't selects Tochigi forest as nuclear waste disposal site See in context

Wtf! Isn't there enough space in the area surrounding daiichi? Why do they need to move it? It looks like the theory of the gov. Trying to increase the level of cancer within the whole country by spreading the material around so they have plausible deniability is true. If they can destroy an area of national park for this badly planned action then why can't they build geothermal plants in national parks to give Japan a chance at the readily abundant power available in onsen areas?? This is another perfect example of why the gov and tepco need to be charged with nuking Japan. Get approval from local residents... The locals will say we are concerned and the rest of the countries sheeple will say "shoganai" nothing will change and it'll be done here then the next area then the next without giving 2 or even 3 hoots about the damage being done. Come on sheeple!! Tell the dankeis "no more!! Retire peacefully and let some new intelligent people consider this problem, and not that crack pot in osaka!!"

Posted in: TEPCO head baffled by criticism of utility's role in nuclear disaster See in context

The article states his education but I'm guessing from his naievety that he must've dropped out. How can he be baffled? It's quite simple. Tepco cut corners on safety and paid the price but in so doing created a desaster larger than anything before which is still on going. Nice going mr high salaried, high bonus highly educated man. Have a little more understanding, maybe my 4 yr old could help explain it to you. He has his crayons in bright colours that may be good. Also noticed that the demonstrations were largely skipped over by inadequate gov approval seeking news media.

Aha. That would make much more sense... This is why I should never read and comment before I 1) have woken up properly 2) got my glasses on. The written test is easy if you mentally prepare for it. A friend told me before taking it, think in Japanese grammar but English words. That really helped make sense of the stupid translation they have. I passed first time in car/bike and big bike. It's very hard to fail so long as you follow the stupid guidelines for the test but if you deviate by one single thing...

Posted in: Changes to driver's license test eyed after Chinese man arrested for cheating See in context

Ok. I have a few problems with this. 1) the test I took is using a machine to test focus of the eyes. No questions. 2) the visual test with questions was kind of random and no way visible from outside a building. 3) why didn't he just memorise the sequence if it's so easy? 4) why didn't he just wear contact lenses and tell the tester he wasn't like I've seen a few Japanese doing.

How can he be arrested? It's a trumped up charge that should result in automatic failure as okinawamike said. He's an idiot for even trying this anyway because if he had an accident and got found out later he will be seriously burned by the system.

And why can't we link this to Facebook? To show the world that human rights are being killed in Japan? Have to check the Japan times for a link do I can show the world (well, my 3 friends) this travesty.

I guess human rights are only for other countries then, not an uncivilised, backwater like this. What's he gonna find when he checks the gaijin working slave labour in his schools?? Who cares about a tattoo? Seriously? Only a person who is a) hiding something themselves (as others suggested) b) has a hitler complex. Does he realise that by doing this he will not only lose in the long run but will also help to destroy any chance of one of Japan's most beautiful traditions?? Tattooing here is, although previously associated with gangs, a piece of the cultural history. Ps. I'm heavily tattooed, I teach kids and adults alike and never had a negative comment. It's my body, my culture and I don't care what you think, I hate sushi breath!! That must be banned too.

I agree. My thought is was the baby "helped" or recieved a "boost" that went wrong. Walking is very different to climbing. At 7 months one of my kids could lift a full 1.5l bottle to head height but no way his own body weight.

Posted in: 11-month-old baby falls to death from apartment window See in context

Please dO not put words in my mouth. My statement was " I have 3 kids and they could climb onto a sofa but couldn't climb over the back" I mean they did not have the strength to pull themselves up over the back of a sofa (and I'm assuming it went upto window height!! I know the definitions of toddlers change here but 11 months old is basically the same. It's amazing how posters nit-pick. The fact I stated is based on 3, read it,3 children I have. All boys and 2 exceptionally strong. Also it's based on physics. A child of the average height for that age would not have the muscle power required to get leverage to get into that position. (again based on a sofa of size where the back is upto window sill height) The only reason my kids could get onto the sofa was stand at the edge and fall, then drag themselves vertically onto the cushion. Instead of getting predantic check the physics required, then question why the mother allowed it to happen. After checking get a life, something which this child doesn't have now. RIP LITTLE ONE.

Posted in: Tokyo projects economic impact of 2020 Olympics to be nearly Y3 tril See in context

Ishihara seems to truly want the destruction of Japanese economics. As others stated the jobs are PT and the buildings will become unused most of the year. When will the baajin of Tokyo realise and stop re-electing this muppet. Japan needs to admit it has major problems and focus on rebuilding tohoku, restructuring the gov, police, social service and many more. Not waste more money on this stupid pipe dream. If there must be a bid for the Olympics then have Fukushima or Sendai bid! Use it as a way to force growth in needed areas, not in the politically stagnant, parasite infested city of Tokyo.

Haha. This made me laugh so much. What future? An ageing population that has a few radiation infected children and a government so out of touch with reality they only see brown envelopes. The only hope I have is that this is meant to embarrass the higher echelons of society into realising a few home truthes and get the s¥&t together before a total economic collapse happens.... So they have a week :)

The problem is that the muppets in charge can't guarantee the safety of the reactors and actually have no idea about their functions. Noda has even less idea and he's only an old puppet that's about to be discarded. Until the baaajin stand up nothing will change in this communist state sorry freedom country of Japan.
