No they won't. They've already said they're staying out of this - the same time they told Japan and China to grow up and act like adults.

WRONG. You are not an American political representative. Actually, as reported by Reuters: "U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Kurt Campbell cautioned China and Japan on Tuesday against escalating the dispute, saying the stakes "could not be bigger" and tension could have global repercussions."

If America was staying out, they would issue no such statement. It clearly shows that America has invested interest. What will actually transpire is simply a guess.

Shouldn't that read: "...arrested the driver after he hit and killed a woman with his car...."? Else, it sounds like the car was at fault.

Walking and cellphones make a bad combo.

Inside train stations, people look down at their phones and they run into other people, and while driving I also see pedestrians oblivious to their surroundings. Albeit, I do not condone the behavior of this driver to attempt to run away. Glad he was caught.

This story is troubling. But, I was surprised to see how many people implied that either women do not commit such crimes, or that Japan is immune to such incidents.

All countries have such incidents. And, I think what Japan lacks is a Sex Offender Registration System.

Firefighters, in the case of Japan, includes ambulance EMTs/Paramedics. When people dial 119, local fire departments dispatch their own ambulance as opposed to a hospital dispatching an ambulance. So, I think the story meant that. My friend is a Paramedic at a local fire station, so I know this to be true.
