I really didn't see the problem. Actually laughed a little. Every country has it's own little jokes about other countries. Just a cm. calm down.

All moving it north will do is cause the issues and service member problems to shift to that area. And just because he won doesn't mean much. Meaning sure he's anti base but even the most anti base politician knows some bases are good for economy. Issue at hand is there are too many on such a small island.

How is it relocation or reducing burden if it's just being moved from one part to another. One less base on Okinawa won't hurt anything.

I'm all for better equipment and all. But after living in Okinawa all I can say is why in the world do they need 24 of these things there???? The island is so small. And the pilots break the agreed upon rules all the time (no helicopter mode over populated areas) you'd have to be blind to not see why people are upset. Too many in a small area and continued rule violations. Spread em out some there some in mainland

Sad but true. All this complaining should probally adjust their behavior and actually show some I forest in Japanese culture while there instead of acting like a drunken fool. Took ne a while to learn the respect and acceptance of the Japanese and Okinawan locals while I was there. It was well worth it

Wow really embarrassed by this. That ship would have had knowledge of rad levels and knowledge of what was going on. I mean come on. So they can't sue the navy so they sue someone they were helping knowing the risks. Please toss this case out and dishonorbly discharge these sorry excuses of service members. I was hurt during Operation Tomodatchi or else I was stationed in Okinawa during tomodatchi and volunteered to help knowing the risk. Not for reward but to help a nation ive always respected and admired. Sadly that request was denied but man these guys really are sad excuses of human beings and total scum

I agree with all who already said it. Show respect to people in Okinawa and they will respect you back. Two years I was there and never had one issue. Even when drinking I was smart enough when to stop, head back to base and avoid making myself, or my fellow service members look like idiots. Glad to see he apologized even if it was forced or to try and make nice. Matters not. Its a start

Are NOT real military... They are RESERVIST from a RESERVE Base in Texas. So how do you explain the full time guys that are stationed there that do it all the time? Or better yet the three in 95 that kidnapped and raped that poor 12 year old? How about the male on male rapes reported every 2 months or so on various marine bases there? (Most common on foster according to the officer i knew) Military in general overseas ahve no respect for the locals. I always hear d people complain Okinawans didnt speak english, They would say " If they want my business they need to elarn english and stop speaking japanese" Really? Your a guest there but they have to cater to you?? All a bunch or juiced up prima donnas and I ahte to say that because I learned a lot from my time in the service. But it was idiots like this and all the other incidents that make me glad to be out. Again I hope these guys get the books thrown at em

@Andrew, Google it....its common knowledge. I got the info from a former MArine Drill instructor who owns Boon Bar there in Okinawa. Crap happens almost weekly there. Being part of Buckner and under jurisdiction of Camp Foster we were always on restriction when marines tried breaking into houses assaulting or trying to rape people. This is the first time some monsters have been successful. Stop trying to cover up the actions of those who shouldnt wear the u niform and do something to be a good ambassador and help stop the problem!!! Be a good battle buddy. Be a good service member

and seriosuly this curfew wont work. most of my fellow soldiers and NCOs completely ignored all curfews before. Most of the time staying out til 3-4 am before even leaving to head back to base. So far thats all I agree with some of the people saying here. Wont change a thing. Command teams need to start acting like they actually care about fixing the problem and not turning a blind eye to misdeeds. Hell Bet I could write a book about things Ive seen there that would def gurantee things would change. If anything would ensure decent leadership was sent to handle these problems

@ Matthew....they are not more likely to be accosted by their own....not by a long shot. Yes there are people in every country that get too touchy feelie i agree but most incidents...especially rapes...in okinawa are committed by sevice members. You do the research. Whether it be rape, DUIs, breaking and entering assault etc, it is service members. And your comment everyone paying for the stupidity of a few. If you were a true soldier/marine/sailor/airman you would understand there is no "I" in the service. Suck it up. I was in Okinawa with the army and yeah lockdowns sucked but a true warrior will never complain. Our service members take advantage of those people over there and its time for a change. I love Japanese culture and the people of Okinawa were the friendliest Ive ever met after getting to know them and the culture. Time for service members to remember their values and oaths and act like they are soldiers/good ambassadors!!!!

Posted in: Gemba assures Yamaguchi that more U.S. troops will not be relocated there See in context

Why Japanese public doesnt want such a valuable protector in their neighbourhood but seeking their presents in the nation? Must be some reasons very 'amusing'!

Because look at all the rapes done by americans stationed there, especially in Okinawa. Ive seen it firsthand while stationed in Okinawa. On lockdown because a Marine raped a little girl, or tried breaking into someones house and raping them after following them home from the store, or the club. Servicemembers have no tact and no respect. Out of all the guys in my small little unit I was the only one to actually try and learn something. Everyone else was sex and drinking. My favorite is when they say why dont they elarn english......um because we are in theyre country moron. Maybe defense of Japan is why we are there. But we need a better breed of soldier to earn their trust. And the backwoods ifiots and wannabe gangsters arent the ones to do it

its not getting by with three. the strain is pretty obvious. I was in Narita airport and it was miserable because minimum power had to be used so no AC. My wife is still in Tokyo and there are blackouts, no AC, etc from time to time

Dont see people from India telling us dont eat cows because they are revered there. No they do their thing and let others do theirs. These Eco Protectors make me sick...especialy with the paint and acid going into the water fouling up my whale meat on my next trip to Japan

Well in all fairness to those saying that Japane never copies and this is the pot calling the kettle black etc, lets look at this logically. Most TV shows these days are kind of a rip off of something else. Law and Order to CSI is a huge example. But Game shows are a bit different. Its easy to have simialr dramas or comedys, but game shows show ahve some originality. And yes this is a huge rip on Takeshis Castle which was originally aired in the 80s. I think the only reason MXC dodged the bullet is because they actually worked out a deal to re air Takeshis castle here just redubbed for added humor. Even the US version of Silent Library is a sad sad excuse of the greatness of the Japanese original
